I put mine on last night just to check it worked! It was 18c without heating tho, and heating only comes on below 14c so I put it to 19c to make it come on and then was absolutely boiling!

Ours is off, our bedroom is apparently 21.7 degrees which in my opinion is quite warm for sleeping so it won't be going on just yet! we are £66 in credit from the summer for gas and electric combined so I'm not going to let us freeze if it does get cold.

Just realised it was yesterday when the heating was on, that's the 1st, that's not too bad actually. Truth be known DP thought he'd put it on in August! Silly berk thought it was cold *rolls eyes* We don't have any other heaters in the house yet, think we have a few spare somewhere in the garage.

rooster potatoes if it was just me and the boys I would do the same all year round! DP thinks in the winter he needs to wander round in shorts with the heating on full!
One day I might be more organised...........

Ours hasn't gone on yet and I intend it to stay that way for as long as possible! It's 18.9c in here at the moment, but I'm wearing my dressing gown for warmth. My DH came back from South Africa this morning (it was 37c there yesterday morning when he set off!) and earlier on complained of it being a bit chilly - so I told him to put some long trousers on and some long sleeves, which he did (and a furry hat).

Still off here in Staffs. Put thermal leggings on under trousers today and wore a polo neck jumper. I was warm enough to open the lounge window to let a little fresh air in and also my bedroom window. As the night has drawn in it ha got considerably cooler, but then i am sitting here in short sleeved pj's and have no socks on so i can't be that cold can i! The laptop battery is keeping my thighs toasty.....no dirty jokes now ;-)

How can you be cold at 18c? Are you from a hot place? My house seems to be around 18c during the daytime and I am very comfortable in short sleeves just sitting around. I would be sweating at 23c.

I wanted to make it until 1 Oct and I have easily, not even cold in the morning/after shower yet so that's good. When I start to feel cold after my shower I will put the fan heater on for 5 mins while I get dressed. When that isn't warm enough any more, it will be time to put the central heating on. At this rate I might make it till November, the forecast says the weather won't be too cold.

This just illustrates the differences between people, I would be too cold at your house, you would be too hot at mine. There is no 'correct' temperature, just one that suits the individual.

No, I'm definately not from a hot place, I live in the same town I was born in. I wasn't brought up in a house with central heating but one where the windows often iced on the inside in winter (no heating upstairs) But then the living room, as used to be the case in lots of houses, had an open fire.

I really do feel the cold at 18c, and my hands feel cold to the touch even at 21c and I definately don't sweat at 23c. Even when I go abroad on holiday I've never needed aircon even thought the nights are usually over 29c.

I have only two storage rads on at the moment. One in the bathroom and one in the hall, which warms the upstairs a little. Holding off as long as possible hopefully towards the end of october before the big heaters are on.

Have lit the coal fire today which has taken the chill of the lounge whilst this rain is passing by. Nice warm legs, the cat has been on my lap all morning!

But it's no hardship, hasn't been that cold at all. In fact today the window is open and I've had to take off my fleece top so am sitting here in a tshirt.:)
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)

It's 66 in here (that's in real old style measurements!) and we're fine without heating. But we're lighting the wood burner in the evenings and have been for the past ten days or so.
