We lit the rayburn today so the house is lovely and warm. Kids have still taken hotties to bed though!Jan 2011 GC £300/£150.79 (2 adults, 2 teens, working dog, includes food/cleaning/toiletries)0

I admit I did have it on for a little while last Saturday as I was feeling cold even when wearing warm clothing and snuggled under the duvet! I try to keep it off until necessary, but I have my parents visiting from sunny Africa soon, so will need to put it on for them, methinks!
I am struggling at the moment with getting washing dry, as I don't have any outside space or a tumble drier, so it all gets hung up indoors. Normally it dries fine, either near an open window in summer or near a radiator in winter, but today I took down washing that I hung up on Monday, and bits of it were still slightly damp! Oh well, I will put the mini electric oil filled rad on for a while near the washing if it carries on like this.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -
In an ideal situation, off in April and on in October would be good but it doesn't take account of people's individual accomodation or their specific needs.
If my heating only came on if the temperature dropped to 18 degrees (as some people on here have said) it would be unbearable for me.
I don't function at all if I don't feel warm enough. Luckily, I have moved from a draughty Edwardian house (only partly double glazed) to a modern apartment.
I put the central heating on one day in September, but at the moment the temperature in my room is 22 degrees, just one degree less than my preferred temperature, I am in short sleeves and my arms just feel rather cool. Not Rachmaninov

Atm it's 15 by the window and 17 by the thermostat.
I have been a bit chilly sometimes, but then put on a big jumper and been fine, after I realised I was walking round cold in a T-shirt.
We haven't had any heat on yet, I count it all as central heating.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Just discovered that after the Gas Engineer checked out the boiler the other week he had left the settings so that it came on between 2 and 3 am! We've set it back to how it was now, although it won't come on unless the internal temperature dips below 16C.

I wanted to make it until 1 Oct and I have easily, not even cold in the morning/after shower yet so that's good. When I start to feel cold after my shower I will put the fan heater on for 5 mins while I get dressed. When that isn't warm enough any more, it will be time to put the central heating on. At this rate I might make it till November, the forecast says the weather won't be too cold.0 -
Heating is turned off, we've bought some fleece throws from tescos for £4 to keep warm, and if we get really cold in the evening we just bring the duvet into the living room and keep warm under that!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

I tried to hold out as I don't move about much but it was so cold one evening last week I gave in and turned it on for a couple of hours. Fortunately it's been warmer since so is off again. Last night I put on some long johns I bought in the summer, they came up to my bra and down to my toes - the joys of being 5 feet nothing :rotfl:. It'll save on vests and sox, anyway!0

Our heating is still off. We have used the standing oil heater on the landing upstairs for 4 or 5 evenings, when it has been cold upstairs.
DH is up in the loft now, putting down new insulation.

I am sat downstairs wearing a pair of tights, a t-shirt, a light cotton cardigan and a knitted wrap thingy, watching old Frank Spencer, some Mothers do 'ave 'em.
I still laugh at him.
