OFF
I have used the wood burner a couple of times in the last week with wood from a friend who had new skirting boards and handrails installed and saved me all the offcuts so I don't feel bad about it.
This is my first year of seeing how long I can last before putting the central heating on. I am inspired by you all on hereLife is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.0 -
Still off here.
Am desperate to get further on in the year before I relent. Bought the kids snugglies today to keep them warm. my main problem is my hands that I can never seem to keep warm!Although I get lonely  as a single mother there are always two smiling angels ready to give me the biggest hug in the world. Love you babies :grouphug:

I put ours on yesterday. I was desperate to hold out till October then realised I was only spiting myself as I was freezing. Just had it on for a couple of hours in the evening and its just come on tonight. Supposed to be warmer here tomorrow so hopefully won't have to have it on again.0

I've put mine on this evening. I'm not cold and have been sitting in short sleeved tops most evenings, but I can't dry washing outside and don't have a tumble dryer. I noticed that some washing I did the other day was taking ages to dry and I don't want it hanging around for days, so think it needs a bit of help (especially the bedding!)Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Well I caved and put the storage heater in the bedroom on this morning. I took a hot water bottle to bed, thick pjs, and a fleece throw on the bed, but woke up absolutely frozen. Goosebumps, streaming nose and eyes, the lot. I'm not about to make myself ill for the sake of a few more days.
The storage heaters in the rest of the house are staying off for now though.0 -
Still off here in Lancashire, although it has been chilly, its only me thats felt the cold so far (I have anemia though and you tend to feel the cold more) Kids haven't mentioned it, so will carry on for as long as possible, but won't let the kids get cold. As we seem to get colder weather in Feb and March its a worry to have to put the heating on in September, as thats almost 6 months:eek: I have a halogen heater to take chill out of air, if it gets any colder, will try and stave off the CH till October.
Just to say though, when I put my CH on I don't have it on during the night, a lot of you seem to do that, I couldn't bare the heating on all night, must get very stuffy. I set mine on the timer to come on an hour before everyone gets up:)grocery challenge Sept 2012 £21/£3990
