Is your heating ON or OFF?

Still off - hoping for mid-end October but I won't suffer just to make it. Luckily our house is very warm as a norm so it has to be really quite cold for the heating to go on and I've never had to heat the upstairs of our house since we've been here."A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper

Brrrr... it's chilly here in Bedfordshire. My heating is off but if it gets much colder I am going to hae to succumb and switch it on...Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. Heating hasn't been on yet, nor have we had a fire but we did have hot water bottles for the first time last night. Need to pull out our winter bedspread for tonight I think.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

No heating of any kind on here, yet. In 2008 I decided to try and hold out until November 1st, like a few others were doing on here. It went well, and I was really pleased, because previously, I'd always put the heating on sometime during September. Then last year I decided to go for the same date again, and as it wasn't actually that cold on the 1st November, I didn't put it on until around the 8th. Hoping to do the same this year, too. If it gets uncomfortable to do, then of course I'll put it on sooner, but it's fine at the moment.
As far as heating during the night, we never have it on. Even last year when we had some of the coldest nights that I can ever remember (one night it dropped to -14 degrees), we still didn't have it on. I never set a timer for mornings either. It's just a case of whoever gets up first, puts it on.0 -
OFF
Oddly enough - because I'm usually such a wimp. However, I am wearing thermal long-johns, T-shirt, brushed cotton shirt, woollen cardigan, long socks, leg-warmers and cosy slippers. I'm about to get my shawl thingy.
My reasoning is that if I have all my layers on, and blanket over my knees but I'm not feeling comfortable, then I'm going to put the heating on and not worry about it.0 -
decided to switch on for half hour tonight,1st to check that the boiler does actually work, and because thermostat in house is already reading 14deg downstairs, and its not going to get any warmer on its own,and 14 is my cut off point for coldness!!!
although im not feeling too chilly the kids had goosebumps IN the bath last night! so have decided that a quick blast of heat will be beneficial.
not going to have boiler on timer just yet,as im sure next weeks forecast here is a bit milder, heres hoping;)0 -
A bit on and off, I have it coming on in the mornings as a cold bathroom is awful. But I have turned it on occasionally in the last week or so in the evening. Fire on in the living room though. God I hate the cold!.
We live in a big old terrace and it's easy to get mould with condensation so I can't really let it get too cold.
Mr bb hates to be too hot in bed, so we still have the summer duvet on but my side is piled high with extra blankets and I wear a fleecy bedjacket -very fetching!0
