I used to live in County Durham and I know exactly what you mean! That freezing cold wind used to cut like a knife.

No heating on here yet today but if the temps drop like they said on the forecast I might change my mind and bung on on for an hour or so. The thermostat says it's 13 degrees here in the room and it feels a tiny bit chilly.

Well I turned mine off a couple of weeks ago. Had snow yesterday and managed to make do with open fire. But today whole house was freezing even though the snow has gone ... so I confess I turned heating on.:o It's off again now as the sun has come out and is warming up the front of the house.

So much for thinking winter was over!
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Taking the opportunity when it came this afternoon... I was taken to a large Marks and Spencer store and bought a sun dress. Not quite the weather for it here in the UK but ideal for my holiday in Tenerife in 6 weeks. Here comes the SUN.:)
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

OMG today it turned so cold here in London!! I came home from a transport survey all wet and cold and put the heating right on. Not high, but it's on. I hope it gets warmer over Easter, as this winter has dragged on quite long enough. :o
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.
  • Yep, mine went on for two hours earlier and it's feeling much more comfortable now.

I have no shame in admitting my heating is on FULL BLAST right now. It's simply too cold to mess about today!
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I've put it on full too later in the evening, for an hour or so.

Same here, Ch back on. With all the rain we have been having it has gone cold again. I worked out that having our CH on for 4 hours a day = 28 hours per week only costs £4 per week.
