  • OK I have tried for the last few days to keep it off and failed this looks set to be my first successful day so far. That's one day out of seven I think (most likely).

Just 13 days to the first day of spring and when I am considering turning the CH off - but I shall see how warm it is first!

Cor hec, fingers around a hot cup of coffee. I have just been in the garden to hang the washing on the line.

Read the meters today, we spent £8.18 on Ch & hot water last week. £ 2.05 per adult (4). We also have a coal fire and DD sometimes puts her electric heater on.(although less ofter now we can see when she does with the energy monitor).
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

Glorious day today :) The heating is off, and with the sun shining through the window it's over 19c in here. It's nearly 12c outside. I had washing out yesterday and today and it's drying really well. Spring is definitely on its way :T:T

Still putting my heating on for a couple of hours in the early afternoon!
The wind chill at 5am this morning made it feel really icy, though I didn't have to defrost the car!

Sitting in the living room now and my fingers are frozen! Have the lap top on my lap for added warmth!:o There is, however, a clear blue sky and sunshine outside. :)

I put mine back on this morning. Although it looks lovely, it's freezing!
However, just had my gas and electric bill. Fotr Dec to March it was £219. This time last year it was £323! Had a new condensing boiler put in last January, and it has really made a difference!

Well done on keeping the bills down, it reads roughly the same as mine in my well insulated house. I wish I could aford a new condensing boiler. Will have to save for one as ours is 15 years old. Even with the goverment grant they are still hundreds.

Off! it was on ten times this winter - must have been a chilly one. Southfacing windows are a blessing!

Lasted with heating off until 15 minutes ago, feeling a bit cold even with a jumper on, then went out to put the washing on the line and came back frozen! Also noticed that the rainwater collected in the pots in the garden is frozen solid. So, not feeling bad at all, I switched it on. Now I can move my fingers again! It will go off in a few hours again, before bedtime.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
