Today I got up lateish so did not take advantage of the morning heating (but DH did). Now back to work with rads off and hands freezing! Just as well DD just brought me a pot of tea!

Last night was very cold and we had the woodstove on while in the lounge, but when I went to the bathroom to clean my teeth I had to say hi to the penguins lined up on the windowsill!

Once in bed with hot water bottle, though, all was well again.

Just hoping, yearning, that springs hurries up and comes in!

It sounds to me like Caterina need some fingerless gloves! I gave in and popped the heating on last night for an hour or so. The thermostat is showing that it's 11 degrees in here at the moment and it is chilly but it's my own fault as I've got all the windows flung open for some much needed fresh air. The heating will definitely be going on once it starts to get dark later. I'm a martyr to my shrunken bank-balance but I'm not totally foolish. Nearly five o'clock and it's still broad daylight and the sun is shining! Still, the next bill won't arrive until mid-May so I'm hoping this is the last gasp of real winter weather. Haha

Had mine on for the usual couple of hours this afternoon! Having said that we have blue skies and sun here today. I just feel a bit chilly indoors. I start work at 5am and therefore, feel a little tired in the afternoon! I think thats why I feel cold then!
Good to see the sun though!:)

Unfortunately the fingerless gloves do not help (they only cover the hands but not the fingers, which are the bits that get cold!) - I seem to suffer from cold fingers a lot of the time when I am on the computer, even if the weather is warm. In fact, like yesterday, my body is ok, but my fingers, especially the right hand, are really cold. Luckily I am nearing the time to go offline and down to the kitchen where I can revive my frozen fingers by cooking.

Saw the temperature in the living room (warm, south facing room) and it was 15 degrees centigrade - cannot imagine what it must be here in the office/study room which is a north-facing room that never gets any sunshine! Tomorrow I shall bring the thermometer here out of curiosity.

Feeling quietly proud to be sticking to "heating on just in the morning" though!

    Hi everyone,
I didn't realise just how warm I have managed to keep, just by staying busy:) while the heating is off, until..... one of my cats kept on crying for attention and when I finally looked at him, as he miaowed I actually saw his breath! And this was in my living room!:o Needless to say that as soon as I realised this, I lit the coal fire and by the time I had finished my chores, the fire was glowing nicely and both cats were stretched out happily in front of it!

We only ever have the heating on between 17.00-21.00 max no matter how cold it is & then it's only at 16 on the thermostat. If the house is cold in the morning it just means you move quicker :rotfl: At the mo its on 18.00-20.00 & both DS's are in tee shirts as they are used to it being colder I think. I'm hoping to knock it off altogether soon :j (I know what you mean Alice Mary as we did have to invest in a jumper for the dog as he was shivering :o)

Total capitulation. Heating on all day today, as I had friends coming around to make morsbags (bags that we give away for free to shoppers to bring awareness of the environmental damage of plastic bags). So we sewed in a nice warm environment. Ah well, I thought I'd try, but will take it one day at the time from now on.
