  • Must admit that I'm feeling the cold for the first time this evening. CH still not on, but not sure how much longer for though.
Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker :)
  • Still not on... and still not moved house.

Quite chilly though, but I've put tights on for the first time in about a year and have three layers on as well as hat and glovees and big, fluffy spider slippers.

No gas bill is getting the better of me.

mmmm...think the cold may be affecting my brain. :D

That's the spirit! There's no such thing as the wrong weather...just the wrong clothes. pop on some thermals, paint a big sun on the windows and you'd think it was july:D

Still no heating on here - "the man plus pump" has failed to materialise as yet.

Very chilly here this evening - but I'm not giving in yet! Have just put another fleece on. Microwave wheat bag thingy is lovely and cosy in bed at night. I think we'll make it until November...

    Hi

We have storage heaters and I am loathed to put them on as I hate the heat you get from them, makes me feel all lethargic, we have an oil filled radiator in the lounge which I have put on a couple of times when my Dad has been round as he is quite poorly and really feels the cold. I have been in someones house today with normal gas heating today and that was lovely, much nicer than these horrid strage heaters. I have rediscovered my slippers and fleece jacket and am encouraging the children to do the same.

Still holding out! Although I'm happy to put more layers on, its the OH I have to distract from looking at the thermostat!

Still no heating but bed was freezing last night and couldn't find the hot water bottle, must get another one on the way home from work.
  • We put our CH on for 15 mins last night, to test that it was still working (the Landlord's coming round today, so it seemed a good moment, just in case! lol). Its working fine, but we were horrified to see the Gas Meter balance disappearing by 1p per minute for the first 15 minutes while it got up to the thermostat temperature. There's a very good case for making sure, once the heat has been generated, that it stays inside the house and doesn't escape through windows & doors!!

So, on that note, I shall be filling a couple of black sacks with newspaper and stuffing them up the chimney in our sitting room!! lol We can't block of the fireplace entirely, nor can we use it for a fire, so its basically a big gaping hole to the outdoors. Can't have that!!
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:

As far as the gas central heating is concerned, I am also trying to hold out until November, but have succumbed for 2 evenings when we had people over for dinner.

As an interim measure (cheating?) I have a small convector heater on a timeswitch in the living room, just to take off the chill early mornings and evenings. I'm wondering how to work out the cost of that versus the full central heating of the house.

Had a headache on the mornings following the two "centrally heated" dinners but still trying to work out whether it was the heat or the wine. Both probably!
