still not got it on yet in Manchester.. OH was muttering about turning it on earlier, saying that it was cold, but i'm sat here now in a sleeveless top and summerweight tracksuit bottoms, so i feel fine. He did admit that he was feeling the cold because he's tired, so that won't help. Still determined to last out until November 1st - almost a week away...

Same here, it was only 17 degrees in the house, so put the heating on.
Might switch it off again later on and won't leave it on timer yet. If we get another nice day tomorrow we might be able to do without again.

  • only 18 degrees in my house too. My oh wont put it on till all the balls in the galileo (sp) thermometer have been at the top for a few days, And even then he will keep moaning and turning it off. So I have the electric blankets on all the beds, One thing I cant stand is going to bed with cold feet, mine never warm up. Having said that I have been working outside a lot today and it was ok in the sunshine. Warmer out than in the house this afternoon.

  • Still holding out here, too and not used fire either. Sun seems to be warming the house up nicely so far so not finding it that hard. Aiming for mid- Nov like last year. Remember how bitter it got last year and need to save my gas for when we're really coldest.

well i got up this morning and by gum!! Its bloody freezing. My little one seems happy with his thermal tshirt adn joggy bottoms on at the minute though and im sat with a hot water bottle on my lap - seem to feel the cold alot more than anyone else here lately. Would put fan heater on for a blast but not sure how much electric there is left - am already on emegrency supply - best top it up later! and i think i will put some gas on later too - need to bleed radiators - bens was a nightmare last year so want to have them checked before the much colder weather rolls in and im stuck with a cold radiator. CH wont be staying on though

It was really cold here this morning, so I did relent and popped the gas fire on in the lounge. Took it to bits to hoover and clean first though as we have only used it once before and this will be our 3rd winter in this house. Needed to get some washing dry too so dual purpose. Did make the most of it and bathed DD's and wash hair while it was warm too.

Am trying to work out if its cheaper to put the fire on low during the day or pop the heating on boost for an hour, any idea?

We gave in yesterday and put it on for about an hour just to take the edge of as we've no other forms of heating and although wrapped up we were cold. Had to do the same today so I'm off to look for some really warm slippers tomorrow! Once my feet get cold thats it!
