  • I've just moved into our house and shampoo'd the carpets. They took forever to dry (3 days!) so have had the heating on for the whole day on Saturday to save my poor wet socks. Oh dear - not very OS....... :(

We still haven't had it on at all. I think it's going to get colder this week though.

We are trying to last till we move,,, not sure it will work as i have an underactive thyroid and seem to feel tho cold more than most, but for my bday my BF bought me a fleecy small blanket type thing which fits nicely over my sholuders or on my knee.... I look a bit like a granny in it but it keeps me toasty and saves us pennies on the gas bill :D
  • We are going to try and get away with not switching on the bedroom's storage heater as it just uses so much electricity and has two settings of off and very hot!

We use a portable oil filled radiator downstairs and plan to bring this in to the bedreem when it starts to get really cold.

Had to have the rad on for most of the weekend - just to dry out all the washing, otherwise me and mr DE haven't needed it yet.

We still haven't put the heating on. Trying to go as long as possible without it as we have storage heaters and once there on there on :)

It's definitely cooler this week, but I'm holding out till November at least! It will get worse once the clocks go back I think.

  • We've managed to hold out, which is not bad as our daughter is just a year old - but we did buy her a duvet and have put blankets under her sheets to help trap the heat. Plus she wears jim jams and vest now. We tuck her in really tight so she cannot wiggle. We have also bought her an all in one romper suit as well now - nice and fleecy - which we're going to use when it drops in temp again.
We are lucky as we have open fires - but we've managed so far with lighting just too to date and the first one was just to check that there was no blockages or anything.
So far all weather proofing seems to be doing the trick - It is harder to get out of bed in the mornings though - beds so warm - and house is chilly!
  • I grew up in a house with no central heating so i guess Iam hardened to it.Soon I will allow the kids their electric Blankets on at night- that makes a big difference. However no heating until 2nd partof Nov- I tell everyone I am thinking of the planet but I know they just think I am mean!

I'm still holdong out too. It's much colder tonight though. DH is round at a friends sorting out his computer, if he was here I'm sure he'd be moaning about the cold, I've just put my fleece on and the children don't seem to feel the cold.
