We are still really warm here, haven't purposefully left it off just haven't need it. DH has been sitting about in his boxers...there's an image for you all to absorb!...I do have a fleece over me in the evening whilst watching TV but I do that anyway even if I'm too hot....just like the cozy feel.
Have back door open in daytime when I'm at home as the dogs like to go in and the garden every 10 minutes and drive me mad if I keep having to get up. Will be closed once it's properly cold and they will have to lump it!
I did wear bedsocks in bed last night but that was more because I bought 3 pairs back in summer and have been dying to try them out as they are cute and fluffy.... I have also started wearing my slippers again as laminate flooring can be a bit chilly on the feet. Have got winter duvet on but still have bedroom window open a bit.
My washing is still going out on line all day and then just hang in doorway to spare room anything that is still a little damp. Having said that it is now raining here, the first time in weeks so washing will not be dry today..oh well. There is no issue so small that it can't be blown out of proportion0 -
electricity only?
you may wish to consider a swift google of the expression 'heat pump'

Mick
i know that in the past i'd have avoided my new flat with storage heaters in favour of one with gas heating
however, with the excessive rise in gas prices and the fact that my old place (rented) had a boiler that ran constantly (way it was made to run! crazy crazy crazy!) i was paying 55 quid a month with no heat on!
i've already figured out that there is no way i'll spend anywhere near as much here in the new place during the winter for heating and electric with all electric than i would have at the old place with gas and electric.
not everyone has a choice to change the boilers even if they own their homes and whilst in the past gas heat has been consistently cheaper it isn't always the case, so i think it's important to consider things household by household
at the old place i was spending bare min 85 quid a month with no heat
i reckon that here even in the coldest parts of winter i'll spend no more than 100 quid a month because here i have control over the heating where there i had very little (and the radiators there were not very effective and the owner wouldn't do anything about it!)
i will admit storage heating is not my favourite but i lived with it for years and years in the past and at least i kept warm easily, it's not always been the case in places with gas heat so i guess in some respects its swings and roundabouts
i managed to not turn the heat on in my old place and i turned them on on the 1st and 2nd here (after i moved in) to make sure they work properly, last thing i want is to have to wait a few days while new stones are ordered in mid december because i left it til then to try them out! i did find the house was quite nippy when i moved in and having the heat on those two times helped take the edge off. i'm in north east scotland so it is a bit colder up my way anyway!
i do plan to try and wait as long as i can, i'm hoping for nov 1st, at least for regular heating but i will have to use the hall heater on low at least once a week to dry my clothing, i'm finding it's too cold up here for things to dry out on the line quickly enough.
i won't be using the heater in my bedroom at all this winter unless it's bitterly bitterly cold, instead i've put several duvets beneath me (very soft and lovely) and a big one over me, on really cold nights a hot rice sock warms it quite well
most likely the only radiator that will be left on regularly when it gets really cold is the living room on lowish but i work from home and home educate my daughter so we do need to be warm enough to be able to function physically and mentally during the day, but i've no qualms about little heat at night, that's what duvets are for!0 -

I've cracked and switched ours on.
Just got back from a long, tiring overnight long haul flight and the flat was freezing when I got back.

Not yet. Hoping to get away with another couple of weeks before putting it on. The gas fire is definately not going on till Nov (unless it snows or something!) Been using the tea light trick - I can't believe what a difference it can make.Mortgage Free x 1 03.11.2012 - House rented out Feb 2016

I haven't got the central heating on yet and i'm going to hold out for as long as possible. OH was mithering me to put it on the other night and I put my foot down!
If I can get to the end of November I will be super proud of myself because i'm usually the type of person that puts it on as soon as i'm a little bit cold.
My OH puts the fire on in the living room most nights, not all night but just for a while. We've done this all year round though and it doesn't bump up the gas bill so i'm happy having it on. If i'm cold i'm more likely to put more clothes on whereas he sits around in shorts and a t-shirt and no socks.
Going to have a look back through the thread and see what the tealight idea is:heart: Think happy & you'll be happy

We never put ours on til the clocks change. We've only night storage anyway so it doesn't make a huge difference.0
