Is your heating ON or OFF?

I live on my own so don't need to consider other people's comfortable temperature. I am fortunate that I live in a middle floor flat, which is double glazed, and had thick overcladding fitted to the outer walls some years ago. Also, the door of the flat opens into an INDOOR shared area. I think I had a bit of heating on for a week last Winter and maybe the odd evening the Winter before. Not used it at all yet this Winter and haven't felt the urge to. Nothing that a half decent jumper can't solve.0

I had my heating on for a while over the weekend because it was really cold here, but yesterday and today have been much milder so radiators are off again and will stay off until it gets a great deal colder.0

The problem is we have a kingsize bed, so the duvet cover and sheet are quite big.
I think we have managed to get the edge off now, so hopefully, a tiny bit of sun tomorrow?
If you live in a house with a staircase, the top of the banister is THE place for duvet covers, as all the warm air in the house floats upwards. This is the way we do ours, even when no heating is on. HTH

Still minimal heating here, about an hour early morning for DH and today just half an hour at teatime so that the house was warm for him to come in to.
I'm quite happy with the cooler temperatures and am dressed accordingly but O dear, I have been to the city shops with DD today and they are Soooo hot. I know the staff are not wearing outdoor clothes so the place has to be warm enough for them but some of the temperatures are ridiculous.
It made me so:mad: because who's paying?

I've just posted on another thread about the damp in my home. I've been keeping the heating off or just to a bare minimum of an hour now and again. The only thing is the place already suffers with damp and now my clothes are damp. I've had to put the heating on just to stop the damp and I really could have got away without heating as it's turned milder and jumpers would suffice.0

They pump out a little heat too, usually use no more than 200w of electricity, and can be very easily found for less than £100.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0 -
...and they're good at drying washing

Am totally gutted. Have spent £250.00 to have fireplace made safe to use as a coal fire and now it keeps billowing smoke all over my front room. Feel doomed. Why is nothing ever simple. We had it swept and capped off at the top a couple of years ago before it was all sealed up (it was kids playroom then), now we have got it all sorted and I don't know what else to do. Feel like I have wasted all that money in an effort to save money in the long term and it is all for nothing! I have rung the chimney sweep to come and re-sweep it but I think that my hole might not be big enough!!! Any suggestions???0

You might need one of those spinning things for the top to get a draw going? I know we needed one here before we got the log stove0

Thanks for the advice Suki1964. It's good to know that all might not be lost. You don't happen to have the technical name for the 'spinney thing' do you, so that I can research where to get one? many thanks.0
