I probably wouldn't want to buy a BN electric blanket that is under £20 (unless from a chaz) - I say some reductions to under £40 on Amazon yesterday. A sherpa one with amazing reviews was tempting for about 5 mins, but the bad reviews suggested they wouldn't last for more than a few months. So that was an impulse buy reigned in.
I am sitting under my electric blanket again and it really does cost pennies to run. Since having the smart meter installed I find myself watching for trends at key times of the day. Yesterday the daily cost peaked (thermostat set low but it was icy overnight and stayed that way all day) and if I am honest the house is still cold. Thankfully, I am not!

I don't sit still long enough to use a blanket. The heating is set at 18 at the moment but is showing 17.5Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I am a little surprised that mine remains off! Yes its absolutely freezing, but I'm enjoying life cosy under my electric blanket and the temperature is going to improve tomorrow. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

The temperature has picked up and I have noticed the difference in the smart meter already. Despite me having run my new combi oven for ages in the small hours. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Incredibly for January, I haven't needed the heating for the last 3 days!
Today was particularly pleasant, it was mild and windy and I got 3 loads of washing dried outside, which is also a rarity for the winter. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

I put the thermostat to 18 when I got up as it read 16.5. Very foggy here with drizzle.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

It has been mild for 3 or 4 days now and not dropped below 50 with zero heat, although no sun today - each passing day is slightly longer than the one before so potentially sunlight can hit the windows for longer - the previous minus 6 and 7 overnights with overcast/wet days were not fun and the fan heater had some 2kw usage as I could barely feel any heat on 1kw (42 was the coldest the lounge reached) - first 3 days of this week I have used 72% less electricity than the same time last week5
