Had the house at 17c except for 2 hours in the morning and 3.5 hours at night and it's costing me £6!
Im going to have to drop the daytime temp to 16c I think.4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.4 -
I’m sticking at 17. The weekly bill is higher than I would like but my chilblains are kicking in already at lower temperatures. For now comfort is winning out, although not as comfortable as I’d like. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.5 -

Ours has been on a few weeks at 21 degrees and 24 seven.
It’s a three story house with underfloor heating and the top floor is never switched on.
We were told that the most economical way to use it to have it set for 24 seven and it’s not working out to be very expensive.
Smart meter is showing an average of less than £4 a day.The 24/7 rule was always hotly debated, when proves sky-rocketed Martin finally shifted position from heat the space to heat the person. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.2 -
@KxMx re your draughty windows - there's a board/subforum (?) on here called "In My Home" that's full of very knowledgeable people. If you don't want to post you can read some of the others having the same issue.
Sorry if that's teaching you to suck eggs. Just that you don't have to suffer cold rooms while you wait for a proper fix, those guys will sort you outI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -

I’m in the process of looking at new houses, and I’ve seen some that have very low running costs.5 -
I’m using Bare minimum and just had my octopus reading/bill for the month for both gas and electric £110 oct/nov, this is including the gov £66. So my payment was 44.00 .I’m in a small 3 bed semi, and only put heat on for an hour at 17 degrees in the evening over the last week or 2 . Before that it was maybe half an hour a week.
my electric is no lights at night just tv. And charging of tablet and phone, fridge freezer, plus a tall freezer, kettle ,microwave, and a quick wash once a week.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.4 -
Bedroom was 9.1 this morning, nice under the duvets but could definitely feel the cold out of bed - put the fan heater on for 4 mins to get dressed in front of it. Quite foggy at the moment and if it stays like this it will not heat up much indoors - I usually walk 5+ miles a day, with a good jacket on feel quite warm and then a hot drink on return makes it seem warmer indoors.4
