I have a bad back at the moment. My heating was on 17 and I was cold - I think that being cold and muscles tight was making the pain worse, even with a hot water bottle. So mine’s gone up to 18 till my back is better. It’s the balance between saving and the lower temperatures not impacting on health for me.
Also trying to persuade 83 year old parent that 16 is too low for her when she’s not on the breadline so doesn’t have to.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.9 -
I think definitely keeping an eye on the weather forecast is going to be the best clue on how to dry laundry over the coming days, perhaps running the washing machine overnight so that one is able to catch every moment of drying sunshine once it,s hung outside. We're re currently doing a quick 30 mins l cycle followed by a fast spin for heavy items to remove as much moisture as possible.4

It's not a competition, it's about being aware of when we need heat, and maybe sharing a few tips.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Our cats sleep in the front room where the stove is. It gets banked at night so I can add to it on a chilly morning. Our racing pigeon who is a rescue has a heat pad under her cage when the winter gets bitterly cold. Barra our sighthound was rescued last December (during storm Barra hence the name) and he is now in tiptop condition. Due to the fact that he is mostly saluki and at his healthiest can resemble a toast rack he will be getting fitted for a sheepskin lined coat and an indoor light fleece this payday.
I don't humanize our animals I just prefer them to humans in general.
That said the wind from Bute is cutting tonight so stove is on (heats radiators and water)11 -
Lovely warm sunny day. Pocketed the £66 bung. Heating off. Forecast shows no need for heating for at least 2 weeks +. Happy days.2

Still off here, no plans to turn it on any time soon.
Our heating costs a fortune... currently trying to work out where all the exposed pipes are so i can work out the risks if we don't turn it on all winter as it's simply too expensive to heat our home this winter if we can avoid it.

I also have hypothyroidism,my hands feet and nose are always cold. I’m currently sat on a fur throw, with another on top ,I have socks thick leggings ,long sleeved top ,fleece lined sweatshirt, and feather filled gilet on, plus fingerless gloves . Plus a heated microwave pad on my back.
i also have had a long walk this morning.
As with animals we all feel the cold in different ways , and at the moment I have no heating on ,I hope to manage a little longer if possible.
Thanks to whoever recommended the turtle doves outlet , mine are pale beige .Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
Still off here. Monday lunchtime was lovely and warm, so I basked in a sunny room for 20 mins and returning to my study was a noticeably chilly experience. Its dark by the time I have finished so although its not cold I would rather stay in. That said, I walked last night and although dark it was a pleasant temperature.
By this lunchtime the heat from the sun was considerably weaker. This evening I have made up my bed for the winter: heated underblanket, 3 x 15-tog duvets, fleece and electric blanket on standby for when the time comes. If I have to sleep in my fleecy dressing down too, so be it.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.4 -
I felt very chilly on the walk home so I tested my heating. It felt lovely and warm after 5-10 minutes and all the radiators work, thankfully. I put up two door curtains too with the extender poles at the front and back doors.
Heating is still off for now though...:)3 -
The heating put itself on first thing this morning and I gave it a boost late morning to 17C which was nice. (However did we cope with 37C in the heatwave?)
It felt a bit cool when we got in this evening but a fleece over my jumper and some supper and I'm warm as toast again.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
