SE London here.
No central heating yet, but my heated foot warmer has been on (I have hypothyroidism, after treatment pretty much my only symptom is cold feet).
I've also convinced the OH to close the back door and windows during the day.Pensions actuary, Runner, Dog parent, Homeowner4 -
Still off here, though we've had the fire lit a few nights so far. Very grateful for the wood we've had from friends over the last year and a bit! Hopefully it'll keep us going this winter and reduce the amount of time we need to use the heating.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!4

arnoldy said:Dog breeding can be a horrible thing. Visual aesthetics taking precedent over healthy dogs. Dogs are not human; they should be working, active things. I'm sad how many live in domestic mollycoddled centrally heated houses with fluffy knit wear on, under-exercised and over fed. Many of the owners are unable to really afford them, let alone train and discipline them. Plastic bags full of you know what often litter the countryside, what we might term a significant minority of irresponsible dog owners.5

I have been feeling cold today even though my thermometer says it is 20.5 in my living room. I think it is a reaction to my Covid jab as it is making me feel fatigued and under the weather. I have my scarf and thick socks on indoors.4 -

Heating is still off here. We have external wall insulation, live deep in the southwest, though in a frost pocket. Temp hasn't dipped below 19 in the living room. I don't think its just us, I can usually see the steam from neighbours condensing boilers but haven't noticed them yet this year though their houses arnt insulated4 -

Bright and sunny yesterday with a bit of a cold wind, reached over 20 indoors but with the slight frost last night it dropped below 16 by morning. Forecast is a sunny day again today but not as cold tonight - last just sunny day forecast for the next 2 weeks - time to start wearing a thin fleece over the t-shirt outdoors2

We had guests over the weekend, so the heating went on for a couple of days but it's off again. When I stuck my head out earlier, I realised it's going to be one of those days where it's warmer out than in, so windows and doors can be wide open, at least for a while!
(The thermostat says the hall is 16C - I still can't believe that's okay, but it is. DH is being active and I'm in a fleece).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

It's a lovely sunny day in Berkshire so got the bedding out on the line. It's not cold enough yet for the heating but I have just put it on for half an hour to check it's all working as not been on since May. I've set a timer for 30 minutes so I don't forget. I don't really intend to put it onat all if I can help it but don't want to get caught out if we have a proper cold snap
