Wood burner is still in an outbuilding waiting for a re-fit after sweep. I have been informed wood for next year is looking low, (this is drying for next winter). Extra big dressing gown is now being worn, XXL so that it covers my feet when on sofa.
Plants that had been out for summer are now inside until mid-May. Heating will be on for a short time when away at Xmas, burner used all other times.
I think husband is hoping that I 'forget' about the winter duvet going back on.
I did get a First aid blanket for on very hot room in the summer, the same room which will be Arctic before long. It was taped to a bamboo cane and taped to window, it worked, I am hoping it will help this winter.MFW - 01.10.21 £63761 01.10.22 £50962 01.10.23 £39979 01.10.24 £27815. 01.01.25. £17538

I caved yesterday (sort of) by switching the heated seat on when driving home yesterday. 40 mins of bliss! (and little traffic). Still wrapping up in the evenings and find soaking my feet in warm water, moisturising and sticking a pair of thick bed socks on. Combined with the multiple fleeced solution it is doing the job, but it won't last for long.
Am interested in the red lentil soup, @Wednesday2000! I haven't made a vat for over 18 months now and it's on the cards this morning, I have been putting it off as I dread the smell so much. But I also realise it's a quick and warming way to eat over the winter.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.4 -
Ours is firmly off.
OH commented about an hour ago that our neighbours must have their heating ratched up high though as the living room is very warm. He's wearing a light top and lounge shorts, though he does have his dressing gown just incase he needs it.

My soup was very simple, red lentils, onion, celery, carrot, vegetable bouillon, garlic puree, a pinch of paprika, chilli powder and curry powder and a tin of full fat coconut milk. It made three hefty portions and was delicious.:)7 -
It's not November yet so unless there was an exceptionally cold snap OFF - First thing to do when required is stop wearing short sleeved t-shirts and the change should give a few more weeks. Hopefully there will be some sunny days that help to warmup indoors.4

Hoped to get to October but didn't quite make it as the coal fire has been on the last 2 evenings and central heating on low for an hour in the morning. It was uncomfortably cold, the house is old and I won't risk damp creeping in. 16c seems to be our line of comfort.
I get up early to let the chickens out and although it isn't frosty yet it's not far off. The weather has been pants the last few days, wet and miserable, I'm in the west of Scotland. Hopefully the rain will keep the frost away for a bit longer.

Had to put ours on for an hour yesterday morning as I was so shivery trying to shake this stupid cold off that I managed to catch. Today its much warmer though and sun is shining. I have however dug out 2 old Isotherm long sleeve tops I haven't worn for years and am wearing them under my jumper or fleece, so much warmer than the normal long sleeved cotton tops I normally wear. Might have to buy another one, might struggle to get them washed & dried in the winter if I'm trying to cut down on the number of washes I do.
