Is your heating ON or OFF?

It was a cold and damp day yesterday and I was chilled when I got home from a busy day at work. Customers are crazy we are only closed 1 day !I had a warm shower to ease my back and got in PJs and fluffy dressing gown and socks, then warmed a microwave bag for my back, and after an hour or so was warmed through.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.3

Heating not on, but short sleeved thermal t-shirt on under my normal tshirt. Next it will be my thermal long johns, men's cause they're warmer, then long sleeved thermal t-shirt. Only when I'm still cold with all that, will the heating go on. Unless DD1 or DS-i-L1 are cold! Previously we've only ever had heating on from bonfire night to Valentine's day. We do however light the wood burner if it's chilly. Mumtoomany.xFrugal Living Challenge 2025.3

I think I am going to switch on my heating in the next couple of weeks anyway!Spies said:
The article is a load of rubbish unless your boiler ONLY does heating, a combi exercises the internal components automatically.Wednesday2000 said:^ I might invest in a radiator bed for my cats too.:)
I saw this today and might start to switch on my heating in the next week or two.

This thread just goes to show how vastly different everyone's heating needs are, based on their home and location. And that's before other factors such as age and health come into it.February wins: Theatre tickets9

I was saying on here just now that I have been experimenting with what feels the warmest at home now it is a bit chillier and wearing thermal tops came out on top. I was just about to buy some more women's ones from Amazon and I thought let me check the men's ones as they are usually better quality. I'm going to order a couple of them instead.:)mumtoomany said:Heating not on, but short sleeved thermal t-shirt on under my normal tshirt. I put my heating on around the first of September every year to temperature. to burn of the dust, check it's working and find any cold spots. I have a boiler check booked but not till November.!
not planning on putting it on till 1st October. but even then will take it day by day. before putting it on timed once the service is done.
I have some amazon vouchers so may invest in some thermal base layers. xtoday's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.
Living on my memories, making new ones.

Beautiful clear sky in the far SW today, and no wind.
I've actually got the windows open now6

Same here, back door and all windows open. Let the warm dry air in 🙂Shout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.2

Pleasant day, 15C, windows open, pleasant sleeping temperature last night, no need for heating yet. Hopefully an Indian summer will mean most of us can push the heating switch on back to November.2

South East really warm. Commented last night I might start closing the windows overnight but after about an hour of closed windows, I got up and opened them again. So definitely no heating here yet. Mornings are chilly, but that's my time to jump into action and start the day so I don't mind.
