Is your heating ON or OFF?

Came down this morning to the lounge showing 69% humidity. Which is better than the 74% at it's highest in the past 24 hours. I also wiped away a small amount of condensation on the bottom of the window.
It's a very clear morning, so hopefully that'll mean a sunny day & no rain....
I was too warm in bed last night due to giving the heating a blast & the radiators weren't warm when I got up so it must have stayed off.0 -
I am giving mine a proper test this evening, its a more complicated system and takes me ages to set each individual zone. The actual thermostat temperature is all areas seems a bit wrong but they are not usually 100 accurate, I think mine is out by 1-2 degrees. So I have set all the zones and all the times, I think I will leave it at that, I can turn up and down depending on how it feels to me. I must admit that I am glad I had the boiler serviced last week and can now set to and iron out any fluctutions. I have underfloor heating downstairs and it is not instant, best put on constant. I think I will get a good feel for it when I come downstairs in the morning, I felt cool this morning0

Not yet October but I think I'm going to have to give in and flick that switch this evening. Its feels very damp and is not at all comfortable.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

After a morning and afternoon of clear skies it's back to constant rain & dampness again. Not had the heating on as it was 19c in the house & that's warm enough, especially after a 2 mile walk home.
Additional thermometer/hygrometer has arrived & both are now in the bedroom to see if they match up overnight. I'll be putting both in the lounge for the day tomorrow & see if they measure the same. So far the temps are exactly the same but the humidity has a 5% difference....0 -
Tonight is the first night it has really felt necessary to have the heating on here in Glasgow. I might have been able to do without, but I have a load of washing I wanted to dry too.
I’m off to see the preparing for winter thread too, since I had a rotten cold last weekend and was stuck in the house without anything to take for it.2025 goals

I notice the forecast for the next couple of nights is 3C minimum. That is quite low enough and I think tonight's the night to start the heating. Inside temp this morning is 18C which is fine if you are moving around, but definitely on the cool side if you are sitting in one spot for any amount of time. It always feels colder when there's persistent rain and drizzle, but I see tomorrow will be wall to wall sunshine which will be a very pleasant change.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

It was still off all of last week, as we were away, but it was pretty chilly when we arrived home, so went on last night for a brief time, and same again this morning.February wins: Theatre tickets0

Switched it on for an hour whilst I get tea on & get settled down for Bake off.
The two hygrometers were both showing the exact same temp & humidity in the lounge when I got home from work & it was still 69% in the lounge. One is now back in the bedroom. The mini dehumidifier has arrived, & it does look very mini compared to the size of the room...
The stupidly high ceiling makes the volume quite big. It's currently switched on in the corner near the damp patch of wall. If it collects a decent amount of water I'll invest in a bigger one & move this to the bedroom. I suffer from dust allergies so this should help with that, too.0 -
Its actually been beautifully warm and sunny today! Such a contrast with yesterday.
Ergo no CH this evening. Yesterday an hour was all it took to get the house sustainably comfortable for the night.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Still off here in Manchester. Glad I invested in hot water bottles last month. Just takes off the edge.0
