Not been well for the last few days (story of my life), so have had one whole storage heater on.

Top temp is 18 degrees in the morning...15 degrees at night. I used to think that was warm! Blooming freezing!
  • I don't remember using the central heating last year, and my <£40 gas bill was due to water heating. The wood stove is on tonight: it gets the lounge warm and then I open the door to get the rest of the house warmer. Then I close the door again when i go to the warmth of my duvet and in the morning the lounge is a warm haven. So far as it hasn't been cold I've used pallet woods and short burns, but I've a couple of year's worth (at least) of chestnut, oak, apple and leylandii.

The gas fire is on each night now. I would have been tempted to put the central heating on (lowest temperature I've noticed is 14c) but we have a leak on the system, plumbier coming on Monday to fix it. The weather forecast for the end of next week Thursday/Friday is daytime temps 9c it will definitely on if that's the case.

It is going on today, stuff waiting for November, not so cold as DAMP, not going to suffer through it. On it goes.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Still off here - not due to 'hair shirt' reasons, just still mild and the woodburner is heating enough for the evenings - temp has dropped today though - if it carries on will switch it on for an hour in the morning and evening to chase away the damp

Very occasionally, one-hour spurts of CH, to heat the house in the morning, or the bathroom for a shower, but mostly off and the woostove on, every evening, giving us warmth, delight and often cooking our next day breakfast. DH spent a couple of hours in the garden today chopping and sawing wood and did not even feel the cold while preparing firewood for the next couple of weeks. Very pleased!

  • Not turned mine on.

Whilst I can afford a little heating, i'm saving up so heating and other things have had to be in extreme circumstances only.

Extra clothing and under the duvet will have to do when it gets colder.

I do miss having a home with an open fire and wood burner. Although people have been saying wood has gone up because so many people are have them now.

Mine is definitely on. Yesterday I lengthen the time - will now come on at 4pm instead of 7pm. Still to turn off at 10pm. Have also lengthened the morning time as hubby is not at work.
