No heating on here, we have storage rads, I am putting it off as long as possible. We have lit the fire in the evenings this last week from about 5pm. The new grate is performing well, we have a chap coming to look at the chimney. It pulls ok when its fine but mist or rain its pathetic.0

The heating is on between 7 and 7.30am to take the chill off the bathroom (can't stand getting out of a warm shower into a cold room!), other than that the weather has been so good for the past week or so that I have all the windows and doors open until it starts to get dark. I'm having individual thermostats and a new gas boiler installed soon so hopefully they will save a few pennies.
I wonder if a certain Cameron and his politician cronies were to read these forums what they would think about how this country has been brought to its knees by their appalling lack of housekeeping skills...0 -
Not quite yet, though I may be forced to put some socks on soonishI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

We are lucky at the moment the weather is mild. We are away for the next 3 weeks from Monday so ours will not be on until November. Our house is always warm and we close the doors and pull back the curtains to let all the sun in so free heat. We also get the sun in all the rooms at some part of the day.Why pay full price when you may get it YS0

For me it's the thermometer that says when the heating goes on, not the calendar.
At the moment the radiators warm up when the hot water goes on.
I'm not afraid to put a cardigan on, but I'm not going to sit here and freeze in my own house, so when we start to feel cold, the heating will go on.Early retired - 18th December 2014

We've had ours on a handful of times, always in the mornings. Don't see it going on 'full time' for another couple of weeks unless there is a big cold snap!0

I think some people just feel the cold more than others. I am usually okay until about mid November. I have the windows open for most of the day even when it's cold outside. I have to have fresh air or I feel like I'm being suffocated.:D
Have people on here got the loft insulation? When we got it was free and that has made an enormous difference to how early we need to switch the heating on.0 -
Heating is OFF here. Downstairs can get a little chilly, but I have taken to wearing my lovely cozy dressing gown around during the day. Also have a candle lit in the bathroom, and the door closed. The room feels nice when I go in there.
Upstairs is really warm, it gets the sun most of the day and really does feel so much warmer upstairs. The cat is up there so it must be the warmest place to be.
Hopping to not need heating on til December.0
