On for my morning shower, off from 9am til 6 pm when it started to feel chilly. It's just gone off for the night, hoping for the promised mild weekend.0

Do any of you have a set date when you put heating on in winter, and off in Spring?
I used to have a friend whose parents always turned the heating off on 1 March regardless of weather! I don't know if they ever put it on for a quick boost to take the chill off, but I doubt it.
I don't have my house particularly warm by many others' standards but I don't like to be cold. I think, esp with the warm weekend coming up, I may turn it off and see how we get on.
(mine is on 24/7 all winter but on low and I turn up the thermostat when needed and radiator in bedroom is only ever on if we have particularly freezing weather - it hasn't been on at all this winter).
So, do any of you have any heating rules or dates that you stick to?0 -

No set date here. I just put it on when it's cold. If it is no longer cold e.g summer then I don't put it on.
I operate it manually, I don't leave it on 24/7 or anything.0 -
No set rule. When it feels warm in the evening I shall turn the CH off.The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0

Off today, lovely and warm but might put it on this evening. It goes off permanently when it's warm enough to leave the windows/doors open all day, whenever that might be.0

We let the thermostat do all the work for us
We have it set to 16C during the day and 18C for the evening - switches itself off if the weather is warm, on again if the temperature drops.
We set the timer so that it's completely off at night, or when we're not in the house, and switch it off manually if we go out when the timer thinks we are in.
It goes off permanently once the weather is such that the heating hasn't switched itself on for a week or so - not happened yet but close I think....
If we need extra heat in the living room in the evening, we sometimes turn it up to 20C. But mostly we use the open fire as we get plentiful free wood from a friend who's a tree surgeon. The fire usually raises the temp in that room to a minimum of 25C even in the depths of winter - Mmmm, toastyDon’t try to keep up with the Jones’s. They are broke!0
