Last year, I managed a large, country, oil CH house on one tank of oil and copious use of a woodburner.
This year I have the CH on (20 degrees) for 5 hours a day ANDim heating the whole house rather than a few rooms (to keep mould/ condensation away).
Am feeling both highly guilty and very cosy.... #confusedbutwarm"Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." William Morris0 -
Where are you in the UK Lee? Obviously I don't need to know specifics etc but generally - geographically?Deleted_User wrote: »Nothumberland.Lee I'm in Northumberland too. My house must be similar. Hard to heat. I've got insulation etc too.
Gosh no wonder your all cold, I've just looked at where you are on google and your pretty far north. I'm further north but west where we get the wind off the Atlantic.
I'm wondering if the builders of our houses thought about our geography and what climate change was going to mean to us lot sitting indoors freezing in layers paying a fortune on heating bills...doubt it. Are you girls in new builds?0 -
Freezing here today. Windy, wet and cold !!
I've got the heating on (well 2 x storage and 2x oil-filled rads) and since I came in from work I have been wearing 2 x jumpers and 2 x pairs socks  Obviously am also wearing full set of thermals but I am now starting to feel warm (just had 2 x glasses of vino)
Hope this cold snap doesn't last too long eh

No I said my house is an old terraced house.
Not having heating on brings a whole host of other problems to the house e.g damp.0 -
Not a new build. It's a old terraced house that was originally built when the mines opened.0

Heating on here, but moderate temperature as little boy has a temperature and is generating heat of his own!
We will be in all day so will keep temp constant I think. This weather, no work and a poorly boy calls fora pj day!Bossymoo

Ours is definitely on. We're in a flat in London but there seems to be precious little transmission of heat from the other flats.
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!0 -
Had it on for a few hours this morning, but its off again now.
It would normally be off all day as I'd be at work, but son and I are both home from school/work so needed it on a little longer today.
Wont turn it on again until 2.30 though, ready for when the teenager gets home from school. Then off again at about 6pm.0
