Still off here too, and three days with not even a cardigan. It's supposed to get cooler over the next day or two, warm woolies at the ready ;)

  • Definately OFF as it was just too warm to sleep last night and we've still only got the summer quilts on, mine is 2.5 tog too!!! We're both longing for some cooler weather to sleep in and to put the plants in the garden into autumn mode too, we've flowers in bud and new flower all over the village that would normally be finished and on the compost heap by not, it's very odd weather this year isn't it?

I have noticed a dampness in the air from about 3pm now.
I bring the washing in if still on the line and shut up the house windows and back door if open.

3.30pm the last few days I have seen the moon up above here in Hampshire.

It is raining heavily outside this morning.
A dull, wet day ahead me thinks. I will put on my thermal long sleeved T.shirt from M&S. Brilliant for insulating oneself.

Well done to members that still have all heating off in November and having lower fuel bills as a prize.

I do not have any heating on yet but it is only a matter of time as we head towards December.

I have got quite good at the fuel game and switching appliances off at the wall when family leave them on.
I think it is down to choices = pay a higher bill or switch off and unplug when not in use.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

I love autumn and this mild weather has me in little discombobulated. the garden hasn't had a frost yet - I've strawberries ripening away merrily, if we have a sudden return to normal weather I may lose a few of the less established plants as they haven't been prepping for shut down properly and I'll fear I'll be cold at temps I'm normally considering mild in winter. Yesterday I was feeling in need of a lap-blanket at 18 degrees - in winter I'm not at that stage until about 15 degrees usually.

I air the house throughout the year - upstairs windows are never completely closed except in very strong windy storms, but it's nice to be able to have the downstairs airing properly without freezing still.

14 out, 22 in and the sun is blazing through the windows. Gorgeous day, crisp feel outside and big fluffy clouds. Heavy rain at 5 am and am glad I finished off the allotment yesterday as it was sticky enough then. Washing up to date, floor washed, just need to do some windows after grandchildren, hand marks all over but too sunny just now. I am very grateful to still being able to wear cotton trousers and a t shirt. No heat on at all yet, downstairs lounge/dining/kitchen/snug all face south and the temperature has not fallen below 20, any bit of sun and it stays warm. Cooler rest of house but certainly not at all cold

I saw a field of oilseed rape in flower yesterday, no bees now of course, so I expect that will all be ploughed in. Plants don`t know if they are coming or going.
  • KITTIE coming home on the train on Friday across Salisbury Plain I saw several fields of Oil Seed Rape all in full flower too, couldn't believe my eyes. I wonder if these are actually planted seed for next year germinating early or if the summer crop left enough seed in the ground that they are a self seeded crop? It's a very odd sight in November anyway, Lyn xxx.
