Not had the central heating on at all, though did do a quick blast with my fan heater this evening.
Tried experimenting with the gas fire at the weekend, but while it's apparently cheaper to run, it's about as much use as, pardon the pun, a chocolate fireguard when it comes to heating the living room so will stick with the fan heater as it does the job quickly and then goes off, I don't really mind that it doesn't have nice looking flames flickering (supposed to be 3.5KW output the fire, but I expect half of that goes up the chimney)
Have also paid my predicted bill for January now while I had some money available, apparently I can credit my account any time, so can use it a bit like a prepayment system, which will help me budget, if the bill is more in Jan I can pay the rest, if there is any left it can go to the next bill...
Have got the quarterly prediction for dual fuel down from £250 to £237 and falling :T0 -
We had new radiators and a boiler installed last week and it makes such a huge difference. I can whack the heating on for a hour and it heats up the flat lovely for the evening. Is slightly cheaper then how much I was paying before because I don't need it on for as long.0

Had the boiler serviced this morning, the engineer showed me how to get the best value by tweaking the settings. What a thoughtful man. In fact it's a bit too hot now and I've had to turn it down a fraction0

On, but thermostat down again a bit more (so not sure if it's actually on at the moment)...and the back door wide open.
Forecast is for wind, cold, and rain now though, so not sure how many days will still be spent with doors and windows open so long.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
No heating on yesterday or today so far and I am nearly £300 in credit so when it really gets cold I won't feel guilty for putting it on. We have the stove now and if it gets cold during the day I will just light that, it gives out a good amount of heat and it is a different sort of heat iykwim not drying like central heatingBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Just watch they don't refund you. I think they have to above a certain amount.
They are not allowed to hang on to your money. I think the power companies got in a load of trouble for it.0 -
At one point I was over £250 in credit (had set the monthly payments at the same amount as for my previous home, which was occupied pretty much 24/7), but I had to demand a refund, before they sent it to me.0
