Ours is on and it felt quite nice and warm last night as it is cold and frosty outside.
I've been testing out the thermals, onesie and comedy slippers... so toastie the back door has been open all evening.

I can't do that during the day as I get a lot of stuff delivered so I would get weird looks from the delivery men.:D

I quite often open the door in my onesie, takes most delivery people by surprise but means I don't have to have the heating on often.

Living room at 17.1 as I have had the patio doors open for fresh air and bedroom is 9 degrees. Not sure about the rest of the house but DH isn't complaining so can't be too bad :D

    Still OFF :j

Last night was the hardest night so far.... I didn't break my 'three layer' rule but I did have hot water bottles :)
I have a north facing window that I carefully seal at this time of year (shrink wrap and a hair dryer!) but brrrrrrr! was cold last night!

I'll use the gas when I need to, but I'll do what I can to keep it off for as long as I can with the exception of the 24/25/26th December.
Forget binge drinking, I'm going to turn on the heating for xmas!
I'll even make sure it's possible to have bath without freezing solid the moment I get out...... decadent or what?
    :rotfl:

    [EDIT]
Unless these onesies come with the ability to open up at the front leading underneath to a 'butt flap' (your average girl can't just 'whip it out' can they chaps? ;) ) , how do you go to the loo in them without having to strip off most of it?

We use 'robe' things in our house, so yes, we look like monks, but we don't need to expose any flesh on the loo(not that'll he'll sit for a pee even though he could *sigh* ), not even an ankle :D

He's answered the door in his robe a few times, he'd rather be warm that 'dress up' to answer the door.

Off today, just mowed the lawn and cleared the leaves so body temp is up and hopefully will stay that way as I'm just going to have dinner.
  • on for the winter from this morning. Cosy all through at 21 in the living area to 18 in sleeping areas upstairs. I have been using thermostatically controlled electric heaters to now but have reached the point when the pellet stove will do a more efficient job. It will cycle on 3 times between 6 am to 9pm and I may well cancel the mid cycle if the sun shines as that will give enough of a top up

They can whip mine out, if they like. ;)
  • To those that don't put heating on even when it's cold do you not get damp/condensation due to this?

Yes, i wipe the windows every morning with old towels, open them for an hour or two (with the room's door shut). And there when black mould appears I wipe it off with mould spray. Not ideal, I know, but needs must.

Wearing a light coat and slippers, and I'm lovely and warm.

I think most suppliers do a Tarif were by you don't pay a standard charge, but pay more for any gas/electricity used
My Aunty is in a home, so her home is empty, so this is what we do as we do need to put heating on sometimes when it is freezing.

Eon hit me with it in about March, they lowered the unit price but charge the standing charge, be fine in winter with the lower units but when you use under a tenners worth of gas in 6 months over summer you don't want to pay £8 a month for the pleasure of having it.
