Is your heating ON or OFF?

  • Still off.

Moved into a flat in the summer and it's definitely warmer than the house I was in before - which used to get freeeeezing early on.

Taken to wearing jumpers indoors now, and socks sometimes as it's getting a bit nippy. Got the winter duvet on the bed now (never heat bedrooms, just pile on the blankets if need be, love that cosy 'warm in bed/cold out' feeling).

got poxy electric storage heaters in this flat. Had to live with those years ago and swore never again, but here I am. Will resist putting them on at all if I can. Rather wear lots and get a little fan heater or something for living room. Got a tumble drier now as well - that heats the place up nicely whenever I use it, though of course won't ever put it on just for that.

Still off! I think this is the first year I've managed to last until November! Although I think it's actually been a rather mild October...

Now of course, the challenge is on to see how long I can last into November!

Still off. OH said the other day "Ooh, it'll be November soon, we can put the heating on then!" (Running joke about my not wanting to put it on before then, we too have poxy storage heaters!)

I was sitting there in pyjamas and dressing gown at the time, and not even the cosiest winter ones yet. He got a LOOK for saying that.

I think it has been really mild this October. I also am in a flat and think the neighbours may have put their heating on just because of the time of year, regardless of the actual temperature, because there were a few nights I was really warm!
  • Just been in Morrisons, and they have King Size electric blankets on sale for £25.

    I'm tempted.

I think flats are generally better at holding the heat than houses. Particularly if (like mine) its a mid-floor flat. I also only have 2 external walls, which also helps.

It does seem a bit chilly this evening, but I've got 5 candles burning. They take a while to get going, but do noticeably raise the heat in the room.

I put mine on for an hour earlier as my elderly Dad came round & he feels the cold.

Please, please, i need advice regarding the heating... i started to put it on because i have a 2 month baby and a todler etc. My problem is that the windows are really steamy over night and i have mould now!!! Not happy! how can i manage the heating system to avoid this? I have no knowledge regarding this.. Its on timer.. a hour here and there, over night its off with electric radiator on ( cheaper) and 25 degrees on the thermostat.

Should i lower the house temp?

    Thank you!!

You could try turning the heating off completely overnight and see if it improves matters.

25 degrees is a pretty high setting.
