Ps. Still on my apple dilemma, as I can't find any cranberries for my chutney yet - someone last night told me that I could freeze them if I peeled and cored them first then they'd be ok to cook with - anyone tried this??

What about using dried cranberries? All my chutney recipes use dried fruits - the moisture fron the apples/ vinegar "inflates" the dried fruit. Fresh cranberries dont usually appear in the shops till about Christmas.
The apples will keep ok as long as they're in a cool dark place.

Logged onto my bank and my earlier problem re money transfers have been resolved, phew, panic over.:D

Been to library and got a load of books so this weekend is for knitting, reading and Strictly!!:rotfl:

I did think about dried canberries but I've read other posts that pointed out they often contain lots of additional sugar. Plus, being a Virgo (and a first time chutney maker) I really want to try and follow the recipie as it says for the first time :)

The apples are in the fridge atm but I might try freezing some (as I am sure I will still have loads after cake and chutney making) - Greent has confirmed they can be frozen so think I'm gonna give it a go.

    Hi,
I'm new here, another one from the grocery challenge:wave:.
I wont include dd, petrol (our biggest expense, althougth am cutting down on unessc petrol spends and using my free bus pass when I can). Petrol is mainly DH work when weathers bad, DS for taking to the station 12 miles away, and to band practises. DS has a railcard so it makes it alot cheaper than the 44 mile drive to his GF or to band prac, plus he doesnt drive yet. I will inc food spends.
I am aiming for 20 days nsd. Obviously as I am a newbie I am probally over estimating my ability:rotfl:
Unfortunately I have already spent today as dog had ran out of food:(
