:jWELCOME TO THE OCTOBER NSD CHALLENGE:j
October, the month of mist and mellow fruitfulness.... or so some say. It’s proved to be very popular in the musical world, having been used and abused by anyone from U2 to Shostakovich, A-ha to Amy Winehouse and it was also the name of a beer popular in the nineteenth centry (that’s a special mention for Swanny:D).
We’re now going to add another reason to celebrate October - the NSD challenge. This is the start of a very expensive time for most of us, with that celebrated festival “Winterval” (I refuse to mention the “C” word in October) at the end of the year, so come and join our happy (and some might say mildly insane) bunch in our monthly battle with the retailers conspiring to tempt us to part with our hard-earned cash.
We are seriously committed to saving money, but nobody said it can't be done with a smile on your face - so we organise riotous nights out and gatecrash any function going - all without leaving the comfort of our own imaginations or armchairs!
On a slightly more serious note, we are here to help each other avoid spending for the number of days we feel we can manage to try to take back some control over our hard-earned money. What you class as a "spend'" is entirely your choice; some people will try to shop on the days DD/SO etc are paid, whilst others will not include essentials such as rent.
It’s amazing how inventive you get when you’re determined NOT to spend - from weird menu ingredients to surprising DIY solutions-- but you know what? 99% of the time those wacky ideas work.
Have a look at our September thread (link below) to see what a friendly group we are. New recruits are joining up all the time - everyone is welcome so please don’t be shy, come and join us, the more the merrier:D.
Good luck everyone, we have a lucky mascot this month to help us all along

28th - Ochi Day (No Day) in Greece (I’m intrigued by that one, any ideas anyone?)
31st - Hallowe'en (lots of ghosties and ghouls to scare away the retailers:D)
Here are some threads to help keep us on the straight and narrow, if you know of others, please post. Many of the lunch box ideas are aimed toward children and are great ideas now that everyone’s back to work and/or school.

Brain is a bit addled after my 8.5hr shift at work - even more so at the thought of repeating it tomorrow
Off to bed now, so will sort out my target in the morningTomorrow is a D/Debit day, so won't be an NSD anyway

Many thanks to you Spoony for all the hard work you put into running this thread and supporting us all :j :j
but could you just change my target to 17 not 12 please - I did go back to check what I'd put and it's a good job I did as I had recorded today's as MSD not NSD so I've changed that now
