Thanks, yes the cleaner is a must, so I'll start investigating in the NY.
As for kids in our bed, well...I too was very firm about it and it worked with DD1 (apart from when she was ill and I wanted to keep an eye on her) but with the little one it was a whole different ball game.
She woke every night for 3 years and as I had to get up for work every day, it was just too exhausting to go into her 5 times a night and sit with her until she slept. This was partly because she shared a room with her sister and it wasn't fair on her, but also I was on my knees and it was the quickest route back to sleep.
The way I'll break it, is by getting up and taking her straight back to bed, but again when it's the dead of night I'm dead to the World and only thinking about sleep as I'm getting up for work. But break it I will - starting tonight!0 -
My DS has always been very good about staying in his bed and just generally good at bedtimes all along. My DD, however, was a nightmare, and I had to fight that process you describe of just giving in, but instead DD and I "fought" for hours sometimes - she can be a stubborn mare and I have NO idea where she gets that from!!
The upshot is that there is no right or wrong way to do these things, you can only do what you can do at the time. Now, it seems, you need to say that you need your own space, and therefore DD needs to get back to a routine that helps you do that - I reckon that Christmas will be an ideal time to do it - after all, Santa needs to know that she is in the right place to be able to deliver presents!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. I never really had this problem, except if DS was ill, and in that case it was more me than him; wanting to keep an eye on him.
You will find a way that works for you, as you say she is very much her own person, and will dig her heels in a bit.

That's if she makes it to this evening......she is driving me MAD this morning. She would honestly try the patience of a Saint!!!
And breathe:D:D
Just spoke to my friend who said I'm lying, she is an angel and I'm just a mean mommy :rotfl: AS IF!
Been to the PO, now having a coffee break. DD1 has just announced she doesn't want to go to the party....*sigh* She's going, then they are getting packed off to Panto (and we're moving out before they get back)
Happy Holidays!0 -

Anyway, what are you still doing on here?! :eek:0 -

Oh macgirl! Well, I'm glad it was okay yesterday - in the old words, a good sendoff. And from priests that knew him too, from the sound of it, it can make such a difference when they knew the person and cared for them.
And this morning sounds like a million miles away! Lots of hugs, and I hope your coffee tasted *really* good2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
We survived the party, then got home to meet my sister, who took them straight to the panto. Got a text after half an hour asking if we could collect little DD as she hated it  DD1 loved it of course, then got another text saying she was ok afterall.
A parent asked her at the party, what Santa was bringing her. She just shut her eyes and pretended to be asleep. Then when asked again, she kept her eyes closed and muttered "Nothing". She might not be far wrong there.....
She *is* still only 4, I must keep reminding myself of that. As for sleeping in our bed, that episode is over (or will be this weekend)
I've sorted her bedroom this afternoon and filled a huge bag for the Charity shop. I did think of Ebay, but it's such a faff to do kids clothes bundles. All the pressing, photographing, listing, packaging to make a couple of quid is hardly worth it. So I'd rather it go to a good cause.
Right off to have a shower before they get back. Dinner is on for my sister and the girls, as DH and I are out at a friend's tonight :j0
