    Hello

I'm back from my travels. Had a productive trip to London and lots was achieved. Of course, the tube strike was on, so we did LOTS of walking (my legs didn't hurt that much after the GNR! :o)

Anyway, I also did some soul searching. I feel like most of my goals have been met, we've moved into a lovely house and debt freedom is on the horizon. But I kind of feel empty and aimless, I don't know why...
I recognise that this is a hole I would usually plug by buying something, whether it be for me, the house, the kids but a weird thing happened while I was in London - I just couldn't spend!
While I'm happy that I have fundamentally changed, I was kind of mourning the loss of my "Joie de Vivre" :( That probably sounds weird, but I'll have to think of other methods...

There are also a few issues happening with my wider family at the moment that are getting me down, but I don't really want to into that here.

So, today again is a new day :) DH said new goals will come, but our main joint one has to be staying healthy long enough to see our kids well into adulthood. My exercise and diet regime are a bit hit and miss, so I guess objective has to be that. I'm thinking of joining my friend's running club so I have no excuse not to run in the dark, I also should go back to yoga as it benefits me mentally.

Moneywise, the mortgage will be top priority come the New Year as will building up a savings pot. DH's car insurance was a massive £640  His car is 10 years old! My own went up by over £100. The only thing that has changed is that we've moved, but the postcode is virtually the same....

Right, off to get the kids ready - Little DD has not been sick since Monday and is soooo pleased with herself! She's even started eating breakfast :j Reasons to be cheerful - part 1 :D

Have a good day all x

Oh I soooo know that feeling of "emptiness" you describe! But I to am very sure that you will find new goals before long. And your sparkle will certainly return, just with the new benefits of not getting yourself back into debt!

((hugs)) to you in the meantime though xxx

  • I think it's quite natural when you have been focussing on certain things for quite a while and then they are all suddenly achieved to feel a sense of loss.

I am sure you will find new things and you will have your new house to enjoy. Didn't you also say you were going to do more sewing.

I have finally found the book I promised you although it sounds as if you don't need it now so a parcel is on its way to you.

    Are you coming to Leeds?

Definitely what Hypno said .... the thing about sparkle that comes from buying stuff is that it isn't real. It *feels* real, at the time, but its not. There *is* an underlying affirmation of life in there somewhere, I think, and finding a positive way to express that is the key. For me, certainly, especially at the moment.

    Thank you lovely ladies :A:A:A

I guess as one chapter closes, another begins and that doesn't mean it's bad, it could be all new and exciting! :D
I was going to go out today, but instead I'm going to stay in and clean the house - I hear it's good for the soul

Thank you for the book DT, there was really no need, but your thoughtful is appreciated :) I can't make Leeds and TBH I couldn't justify spending £80 on what would essentially for me to meet MSE friends, so maybe some other time. I'd love to support MG more, but did buy her book and that is as far as I can go at the minute.

The house was a state after being away for 2 days and last weekend's busyness, so I had a feeling of dread looking around :o

So I employed the Flylady Classic of 15 minutes (love that woman)

*Kitchen now clean and tidy - ting!
    *Dishwasher on
    *Washer on
    *Dryer on - triple eek!
*Bathroom blitzed to the max and sparkling :A
*Purple potatoes found in cupboard, so I've decided to make a purple Shepherd's Pie with Quorn mince for tea! Don't know how that'll go down....
*Better make an apple crumble to soften the blow :D
*Will stew and freeze the rest of the apples from the tree
    *Coffee break

I'm going to do the living room and bedrooms next, then hoover and mop all floors and that will be job done :T

I am treating myself to a professional leg wax this afternoon, after months of doing it myself (badly). Prior to that I'll have to do a quick DIY pedicure so I'm presentable.

Moneywise all ok, I'm sailing close to the wind on the overdraft front and I need to keep a check on that as I won't be debt free for a while yet - but at least I know it's coming :j

Hopefully something will come along to fill the 'emptiness' - you've been focussing on one thing for so long. Did you set up your sewing machine somewhere? Maybe start making stuff, even for the girls. At least you didn't go on a spending spree, and have resisted the Leeds trip if you have no other reason to go other than to meet up.

Really good news about little DD too.

    Have a good one.

It sounds really good, macgirl! How did the purple potatoes go down? :) I was doing my arthritis reading and found that red onions are even healthier than normal onions - the red is the same as the stuff in berries that makes them so healthy. So the potatoes might be the same!

    Hi Gill and KC!

Yes, my sewing machines are in the cellar, but need cleaning up and the overlocker needs reattaching to the table.
There are plenty of things to make, new curtains for one, but we've agreed to live in the house for 6 months before we do anything. DH is more concerned that we concentrate our efforts on paying off the mortgage before spending money redecorating. His business is thriving but his relationship with his partner is not. So he wants a contingency plan for us if things become untenable.

Anyway, I digress. We went to a lovely bonfire and fireworks party last night, and as we were late it only cost us £4 instead of £10 - whoohoo! :money:

We have just received the statement for the rental account which is a reminder that we have grown up a bit and (hopefully) invested wisely.
Plan for today is not much other than pottering, clearing yet more leaves from the garden in preparation for next weekend's visit from the Outlaws :D

Have a good day whatever you're up to :)
