Thanks Taxi. Yes, I've been thinking that too. Little DD will most probably put me in an early grave - she is such hard work at times. I'm going to try and build a force field as Hypno described....
My Mum arrived last night during a little tantrum DD was having. I was flattening boxes, so had a carving knife in my hand - luckily Mum walked in just at the right moment!
She was saying my Dad has had some blood tests and might be diabetic. He is 65 but extremely fit and healthy and never eats sweet things (though has been a drinker), so he's a bit put out that he might now have diabetes.... I better watch out, as I'm a sugar fiend
I have just got back from ballet and swimming and the supermarket. We've got a kid's party this evening, but some of our friends will be there so we'll have a laugh too.
Until then, I going to stay parked on the sofa watching Hannah Montana with the kids
There is mess and boxes everywhere, but just for today, they can stay there0 -

Now that is the right thing to do...leave the boxes...you can only do so much.
Sorry to hear about your Dad...may just be because bits of us wear out as we get older.
DD does seem to try your patience..how old is she?0 -
Hi Gill, hope your Mum is on the mend? I guess it is just getting older - there are much worse ailments, I know.
Taxi, DD is 4, but to be honest she's been this way since the day she was born. She has an iron will that makes Maggie Thatcher look like a kitten. Which is ironic as my Dad thinks she'll be PM one day!
Sadly, she's just one of those people who likes to make life hard for herself. Last night, she dropped her coat at the door. I asked her calmly and nicely to please pick it up, as we don't throw things on the floor (this happens most days). She ignored me and walked off, so I called her, then dragged her back to the coat. She still refused to pick it up - even when standing right next to it! I had to physically bend her over to do it. She NEVER gives in.
Later, I asked her to pick up a sweet wrapper she'd dropped - she said "No". So I explained that Mummy was tired and needed her help, she said no again - 5 times, so I got cross. She stood her ground, stamped her foot and screamed that she wasn't picking it up!
Then she went to the toilet and shouted at the top of her voice "MUM - PLEASE CAN YOU WIPE MY BOTTOM!!!!!" I said, "just a second" as I'm trying to do a million things at once. She continued screaming and screaming until I got there (she can do it herself, but at times asks me for help) - by which time I was in a red mistShe just laughed when she saw me. I wanted to kill her
It is is too much wasted energy to continually be tested like this EVERY day over the smallest thing! It really is wearing.
If I was reading this, I'd think I was a bad parent who needed to show her who's boss.
She is the most stubborn headed person I've ever met. Trust me, I'm not soft with her, but I've tried the nice approach, the praising good behaviour, ignoring bad, naughty step, reward chart, bribes, smacketc etc etc but nothing penetrates. I guess it's just the way she's made.....

Oh yes, you are *such* a bad parent. I will take lessons in bad parenting from you because you are the badparentmeister :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Hi MacGirl
Great diary.
I don't have any children (thankfully, after reading your 4 yr old tantrums) and have no plans to have any either.:rotfl:
My baby is a 20 month old Giant Schnauzer puppy (he is 46kg):D My baby doesn't huff/throw tantrums/scream/cause embarrassment etc....
He is the love of my life (apart from DH of course!!!):)0 -
Hi romylou - welcome to the diary and thanks for the compliment. As for kids - well I think you're on the right track!
*hark - is that Social services at the door!*
