  • Guys I looked in to pacmania 1982 he is not the guy, I have his real name and address from ebay and pacmania 1982 is not the same person, however on a brighter note after some of the great advice I got here and in the ebay community, I think I am closer to catching the guy, the whole account timeline is very dodgy, I have contacted a friend who wil investigate for me, I don't want say much more now until the investigation is completed but any advice or comments on how I can take this up against ebay are appreciated. Thanks all

Concentrate on getting the scammer not on punishing ebay.

As for the 21 days, I'n not at all sure what you think that might achieve?

Thanks for the explanation Soolin. The only reason I mentioned 21 days was because I read somewhere in this thread about Paypal & a 21 day payment hold so I thought maybe after 21 days the payment was safe. It seems not then.

Having never sold on Ebay I'm as green as they come and just wondered.

I put on all of my sales NO PAYPAL in font 72 in red. If Ebay don't like that they can kiss my sorry a**. They state that you have to offer Paypal for your own security.

Surely COD is far more secure as this thread has proven. I'm not sure many people have been scammed on cleared cheques or cash in hand, but plenty have with Paypal.

Oh and I don't like the fact that you pay to list on ebay, pay on the final value, and then have to pay to actually get your money.
  • I assume paypal record all their calls, Their advisor informed that no matter what happpened the money was mine after 21 days, Soolin I appreciate what you are saying but ebay are the one who set me up with this scammer if a murderer or worse meets someone through facebook, they would get sued, so how come the rules are different if a thief takes advantage of me through ebay?

Don't like it, don't use it. You have to pay costs anywhere, and any online service or indeed banking anywhere has costs associated with it, so although you want to use eBay's services, you don't want to pay for them.

That's just a little bit silly.

Actually facebook would not be liable regardless of what the tabloid papers say, what next, sue the bus company because you met the love of your life on the number 26 and she left you?

If you read what you actually wrote (and I suggest this is just ebay employees saying what you want to hear) it actually implies that your money is not safe for 21 days, so are you now saying that you were warned by them it was not safe to do?

I just had this awful sinking feeling that we had a thread recently where someone had posted about a seller who had that on his listings, and we all had a good chuckle. It couldn't be, could it?

No Soolin I am not saying that I know you are superpro ebay person, I just think this is an absolutly horrific experience for a first time user of ebay to go through and if it is as commmon occurence as I am being led to believe, which seems to be the case with the amount of people who say it is my fault then why is it not more widely publicised, if this is one of the most common scams on ebay but I had to experience it first hand to find out then I hope you appreciate I want as many people in the world to hear about is as possible because although yes I'd love to get my money back I also don't want anyone else to have to go through this either you know and this post stops a few people being scammed then at least I have done some good, how about you suggest to ebay a post to read before using it for most common scams? oh but then that would put people off using it. Also I have never dealt with a company with such a terrible customer services, I used to work for a sub prime mortgage lender and we were more helpful than ebay!
