Have any of you done any jobs of that nature recently?
I last did one in 2008. Haven't seen a discount designer for a long time either.0 -

Tempted to put my name down for two bank jobs they have. Anybody got any experience?
Did them once - never again! I think they're easier if you are tall and the people in the branch are nice.
The branch I visited had miserable staff who made me feel like such a nuisance and I struggled changing some of the posters as I'm not very tall and they said they didn't have any steps. Was balancing on furniture - not very health and safety
Well today was eventful!
Had to dig the car off the drive and get hubby to push me out of the street. The village roads were poor, especially past the school as the car park was closed so everyone double parked on the road including on the t-junction which was hindering traffic getting in and out of the lane.
Got to my first supermarket and the car park was under 6 inches of snow. Parked up and did the job, then couldn't get the car back out of the car park. Luckily a very nice man gave me a push.
Second supermarket was better as they'd cleared the car park. Roads seemed to get a bit better after that.
Headed into Newcastle City Centre which was thick of slush and snow and the paths were very slippy. Was amazed by the number of women trying not to fall over as they had high heels on.
Did a gadget type shop where I was totally ignored even when I stood right in front of staff members. Eventually asked for help. The lad was in mid-conversation with me when the lad on the tills yelled agressively "I need some help on the tills". The lad talking to me just walk off in mid-sentence and left me!
Mooched around and when the till queue died down, the manager went over and told the lad off for shouting and said his attitude was bad and he needed to be polite to customers and wish them a Merry Christmas. He kicked off about that saying it sounded false and pathetic. Went to pay and he served me and said in a really sarcastic voice "have a very Merry Christmas." :rotfl: I'd paid with a £10 and he'd given me change. When I got back to the car and was writing up my notes, I checked to make sure the receipt was in the bag, and he'd put the item and the £10 note in the bag
Went to the next shop and it couldn't have been more different. The lady was lovely and helpful. She took plenty of time with me and suggested a few items and explained everything well. I had to try clothes on and I overheard her being nice and helpful to someone else while I was in the cubicle. If she was perfect, I had to give her a letter of congratulations and £25. She was absolutely gob smacked when I revealed myself and gave her it. It's lovely when people get rewarded for good service and she really did deserve it.
Looked around the city centre for a bit but there was Police all over the place as they were expecting a student demo so the atmosphere was a bit meh. Just came home instead of browsing. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Last week, I booked some visits with GR and Amber Arch for tomorrow. Looking at the snow piling up outside and the forecast for tomorrow, alongside the strong possibility that school/nursery will be closed - it ain't looking promising!!
Are these two companies ok when cancelling jobs? I have never cancelled a job with anyone at all before, so slightly worried......
Just looked out of the window and it's full on blizzarding at the moment :eek:January 2012 GC £296.96/£3000 -

GR are fine with it. I gave them a call to re-arrange one of my visits. I got the posh bloke. He is lovely. Don't know about AA, I'm quite new to them. I'm sure they will be understanding though. Good luck duck.
PS. Bit of a thick question. If I take my laptop on a train, will I get to go online or do I need some kind of posh software for it to work?0 -
Can someone with half a brain and a lot of time and patience please pm me if you have done a supermarket audit for a certain company. I have a couple of questions... TIA0

I don't think any of the trains have wifi, so you'd need to have some kind of mobile broadband to get online. A dongle is the most common way but that costs money usually through one of the mobile phone companies.0 -
Has anyone any advice for the chemist audits on gfk - are they worth it for the fee - it sounds like it'll take longer than they suggest ?
Thanks0 -

The East Coast trains have wifi, but very patchy signal. Not sure abou trans-pennine - probably not....
Most new laptops/notebooks have an in-built Wifi widget thingybob
Thanks for response re cancelling. First job with Amber Arch, so hope they (or she?) doesn't get the wrong impression about me...January 2012 GC £296.96/£3000 -

Thanks re: getting online on a train. I think I'll leave the laptop at home. Re: Amber Arch, just give Emma a call, she will be OK with it I think. She seems nice enough.0
