I have a tiny little screwdriver which I just pop in around the neck. Do this in the ladies if you can, shake around the bag a bit (keep other shopping separate or ensure waterproof!) and look in the bag just after you leave the store. Frown then return rapidly.

Before my first shop I searched on this thread and found all sorts of interesting ideas - probably the most bizarre being the poster (sorry, forgot who) that takes a bite of sandwich then puts it over the car heater fan for a few seconds to dry out. Brilliant!

Did you take the travel agent, Monkeynut?

I wouldn't be able to do it in the ladies, as I don't think any of the ones I'm doing have them as they are just the small convenience ones.
I didn't take the travel agent in the end, I was umming and erring, trying to assess whether I would have the time to fit it in, but by the time I thought oh heck it I'll squeeze it in, someone else had pinched it from right under my nose. Probably a good thing really.
I will have a little hunt in the morning for something I can use to make a little hole in the milk! :) I might not feel quite so obvious then as that would be something one would genuinely complain about. I've never known anyone to genuinely take back crisps because they were too broken and crushed! :D
Shame really, I tend to use lots of milk for porridge in the morning, but I think I think we'll be having fried/scrambled/boiled eggs for a while instead! :D:cool:

I've only lost 3 teeth in the process but suits my "look" when I go to some dodgy areas. :)
    Shame dentists don't get MS'd!! :D

Although I would feel even sillier doing this, plus, knowing my luck I would end up making a bigger hole than desired and end up with milk all over me. I wonder if I would still be offered a replacement i I go in and say "ummm, this milk seems to be all over my head, I think it may have leaked!! ":D
I might stick to scrunchy crisps, or maybe go for a soggy sandwich!
Didn't want to do that on the one I've already done as it was chucking it down with rain, so she might have just thought I'd got it wet in the rain!!

If I want to do milk, I just take the lid off and open the seal. Then I put the lid on and go back in and say that when I opened the lid the seal was already open. they have always accepted that without any problem. And the bonus is, it dosnt look so sus to people in the car park!!

I have a large safety pin that I use on milk, yoghurts, mousses, etc. Sometimes use it before I'm even out the door in the larger shops. Saves a bit of time. And if you're doing several shops remember to get a small carton of milk. Means you can use the milk option in more shops plus it leaves more of the reimbursement to spend on other things.

If I'm not rushed for time then I go with the sandwich. They usually offer a refund for that which is more money in your pocket. I take a whopping big, chewy bite out of it. They never examine it too closely after that.

I pinch a bit off a prawn sandwich, bin the bit, take it back and act all dramatic. Always works a treat. However, one freaky assistant decided to have a good sniff of the sandwich and said "it smells fine, are you sure it's not just you"? The cheek of it!

I did one with a prawn sandwich this week but as I was waiting for refund and filling in name and address, the supervisor was telling somebody to take all the prawn sandwiches off the shelf incase they were dodgy too! Luckily it was one with the reveal and audit after so I did confess that the sandwich was fine really and it was part of my instructions or I would have felt really guilty about the waste of the food.

  • Sorry haven't had much chance to log on here much recently (too busy drowning in edigital surveys), but I joined grassroots months and months ago, yet have never been able to see any visits- is this normal or is there something wrong? Just curious really as I'm not finding much time to MS anyway recently.
Hoping to get money smart enough to avoid working full time and paying extortionate money to a stranger for the privilege of enjoying my two beautiful children for 40+hrs a week until my son is 3 and my daughter starts school in 2012 :D

I buy a bottle of their own brand water.. cause its cheap and crack the seal.. and say eek i just noticed this was broken. never an isssue and doesn't cost the retailer so much money I hate wasting food.

I sometimes buy a bag of 6 crisp (on 2-4-1 offer at the mo). Open the outer bag up and part open one of the bags inside. Or break the seal for any water, milk, juice.

TBH I think that they know anyway, and its only a very unprofessional assistant that would query you.

Is it just me or is everyone getting loads of visits? It was dead for a few months for me and now they just keep coming! Eeeek.

November looked quiet for me, but I'm rushed off my feet now!

Just so I don't spend all morning tomorrow crushing up bags of crisps, what other good ideas do you guys have for the Egg shop complaints?!?! :D

I've sometimes whacked biscuits off the wall outside, but not in busy places :D
Here I go again on my own....
