i havent had one bad experience, ive had 4 bad dentists and 2 good ones. The last one took a tooth out (which took him 30 minutes} and sowed my gum to my tongue!!In budapest our dentists are a joke.As for dentists not earning more going private im sorry i just dont believe it !0

maybe ive been unlucky, i dont know....but the dentist before that one put in a false tooth, a few months later i had a abcess. He said he coudnt tell what was wrong but try living with it. So i got a second opinion with a stand in dentiist up the road .He took an exray and showed me ...guess what, the bolt of the false tooth had gone through the root of the neighbouring tooth0

another example...my dentist said i had to have 3 front teeth out, said hang on id like a second opinion please, i went to a different dentist who was very good and he saved all three and they lasted for years... unfortunately he got repetitive strain injury !0

The start of my problem was when i was at school, my older brothers who had left home had great teeth, I eat healthly no reason for concern. It was at atime when dentists got paid for the work done on children rather than getting paid per child. Guess what he gave all my teeth (over time ) tiny fillings which was the start of my problems. When the government changed the way dentists got paid the amount of work done on children went drastically down...surprise surprise0

This was the table that appeared in the Daily mail a few weeks ago. It came from the Office of National Statistics (Government department)

Dentists (all dentists NHS & Private, as there is no significant difference in the earnings of the two) are at no. 26 in the top 100 earners with an average income of £41k.
Not bad, I grant you, but hardly the megabucks everyone thinks!!How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Well I have had my appointment with the hygenist! I have gum desease! Oh the shame!
I have not been looking after my teeth very well.
I now have an electric toothbrush (seems to take ages now) 2 different sized probes (teepees) plax mouthwash, toothpaste that fights plaque and enough floss to wrap around everyones Christmas pressies for years!:D
My teeth are very very sensitive at the moment but the abcess/root canal has simmered down a lot. Back at the hygenist in 6 weeks and back at the dentist next week, hopefully I will have made enough improvements.
OH is now "enroling" at my dentists so that is 3 out of 4 of the family who have gone over to the "private side!"Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.
