I'm really sorry for you Q!
These things don't happen very often, but that's of no comfort if you're one of the ones!
I'll have the string attached to the doorknob just in case! How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

The 3rd dentist I saw today suggested a mallet
She regretted saying it when I started to cry :rotfl:Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

I hope you didn't see Sharpe on UK Gold last night - the one where Harper pulls his own tooth because he didn't trust anyone else to do it! Especially not the chap who carries pincers with him so he can extract teeth from dead French soldiers to get some falsies made when he gets back to England! :rotfl:
Seriously, I do hope it's all sorted and pain free very very soon!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Thanks.
I didn't see Sharpe last night but have had countless jokes from people at work today.
I've ended up coming home from work in a really grumpy mood

Well I am back from having what was left of my tooth out and its massive roots. I have three stiches holding the gum together but apart from feeling a bit tender all is well.
I can strongly reccomend iv sedation.. I was completely aware but of what was going on but at the same time very relaxed.
I am so pleased it is all done and now wishing everyone with tooth problems ( especially Quackers) all the best and good luck0 -

Undo that string
Tooth came out last night :j
Saw a different dentist who told me I would have to wait 2 weeks to have it out by sedation & would have to go to hospital. She asked me if she could try and take it out as she hadn't tried before & was up for a challenge!!
Apparently, although I'd had 4 injection previously each injection was only half a cartridge of anaesthetic. Yesterday I had a full 4 cartridges :rotfl: It was the weirdest feeling ever - even my ear & throat were numb!!
Anyway, she whipped it out - with a stop before she started - I went all lightheaded & they had to tip the chair back - she said I went whiter than her coat
Have just had my first swish with salt water (had to wait 24hrs) & am on slops for a couple of days but very relieved its gone & looking forward to no pain

Weh Hey, Congratulations0 -
Glad you are both feeling much better now. I too have an abcess and started anti biotics yesterday and thankfully they have now kicked in and the need for painkillers has eased. Have also noted that heat would be a bad thing, thank you! I am due back at the dentist on Saturday for the beginnings of root canal treatment _pale_ wish me luck! Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Awww - its really painful isn't it?
If you want a smile though - I went to work this morning & the side of my mouth is still slightly swollen and it hurts when I talk. I was chatting away to a customer and she asked me if I found it tough working in a shop talking to people all day with a speech impediment :rotfl:
I didn't want to embaress her so said nothing!
Isn't it weird how we all want to put heat on our faces - it 'seems' in my head like it would ease the pain - good job we've got the lovely Toothsmith keeping us on the straight and narrow :T
Hope all goes well for you on Saturday
