    That should do it!

If not, plan 'B'. A good solid door, a bit of string and a butch dental nurse ready to slam it!

The old ways can still be useful! ;)
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Huh, I used to think I'd like you as my dentist.

I just might have changed my mind :p

The anaesthetic has just started to wear off - if I carry on feeling like this then my big butch hubby might end up dressed as a dental nurse when he gets home from work - it'll be the perfect way to celebrate our wedding anniversary :D

  • yeah be careful how you go with painkillers. i had an abcess at the beginning of the year and ended up being sick from taking too many painkillers :(

only upside was the throwing up took my mind of the pain for a while lol

Quackers, I thought you would be cured by now....

If its any consolation I am still suffering too..
I know how the preverbial bear with a sore head feels now... I have been evil at work all day becuase I feel so horrid.

I tried to see my dentist today as an emergancy ( he is open on Monday,Thursday and Saturday morning) . Went in at 9am on the dot but couldn't even get past the receptionist. She said try Saturday but couldn't promise anything:confused: .
I was pratically begging her but it was no good.

I eventually asked her to speak to my dentist for me to get some advice as now my jaw, neck and back of my head is aching but didn't get a call back..

I have now tried a different tactic and called the oral surgeons secetary I am seeing on Tuesday to get this blooming tooth out and she was lovely and managed to transfer my care to a collegue and so seeing him on Saturday.

Do you know something I am so gutted that I didn't get all this sorted out years ago and it wouldn't have come to this.

Once this tooth is out I have to get 2 fillings and that will be that .. I will have a healthy mouth for once in my life.
I am then going to join Denplan or hsa dental cover and I will look after my teeth..

Anyone avoiding the dentist read this thread and let it be a warning.

I always looked after my teeth and have been to the dentist every 6 months since I was 3! I've always cleaned them regularly.

Even so, I've always had bad problems with my teeth so it doesnt seem fair really:sad:

trinnylilac, did you not find any relief with the codydramol? If not you can go to your GP & ask for a stronger dose to get you through to saturday.Mine have always been really good when i ask for pain killers for toothache, the pain will creep back gradually but they can give some blessed relief for an hour or so. i took them every 4 hours, and ibuprofen every 4 hours but intermittently so i was taking something every 2 hours.

The codydromol was good slept about 5 hours with them, the stongest thing the chemist could give me was co-codomol, so I have been taking that alternativly with iburofen...Its sort of keeping the pain under control
Constantly have this ache and pressure so I think if gets any worse its a good idea for me to visit g.p. I can normally get in on the same day

    3rd time lucky !!

    Ok, maybe not :(

I'm now famous at the dental surgery

Today they still couldn't take my tooth out. 3 different dentists tried!!

I've had lots and lots of anaesthetic but it numbed the whole of my face pratically and my tooth but the second they started on my tooth I get a searing pain underneath it.

So, they tried to take out the filling and got some out but not all of it.

Then I starting crying like a baby and nearly feinted :o

They are now sending me somewhere else for a consultation with another dentists and then I am going to be sedated if necessary :o

I used to think I had a high pain threshold - The last dentist who tried asked me if I could put up with the pain - I said yes. She started but it got so bad I had to ask her to stop :o

They are also trying to get hold of another type of anaesthetic that they said there is a shortage of - so they will have it at the other dentist for me next week.

She also suggested I write to Tony Blair and confess it was me who has used up all the anaesthetic over the past 3 weeks :rotfl:

They were all sooooooo nice but I'm still really upset at the thought of another week in agony :(

Well I am really happy as my tooth is coming out on Friday under sedation in hospital.. Hopefully I won't remember anything..

Feeling much better now as the new anti biotics I have been put on have actually worked so not getting any pain at the mo.

Quakers, are they refering you to a dental clinic to have yours out under sedation.. considering you are still feeling pain with local aneasthetic I would try and push for that... you are being very brave.

    Hi Trinnylilac,

Glad to hear yours is on its way out :)

They phoned this afternoon and I am going to see another dentist on Monday afternoon - just to have it looked at again

They did mention that they would probably take it out by sedating me now but they dont do it at the dentists I went to today which is why they are sending me to another

I'm fed up now. The anaesthetic has worn off and where they have pushed & wiggled it today it now really really hurts :(
