Tooth Abcess

You've had the full range haven't you??!!
Dry (Or infected) sockets are painful, but ultimately self limiting and go away by themselves. It's like having a really bad ulcer. On top of all you've had, it really is the last thing you want though.
Good news - it WILL be the last thing that can happen!!!!How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

Yay! I like good news
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
Went to the Dentist with a gum infection and promptly fell in love with the receptionist!!!
Dentist said this is quite common as:
Abcess makes the Heart grow Fonder!0 -
(((Hugs)))) Quackers! Hope the pain eases very soon.
Today I had part 2 of root canal treatment and am still numb. Hoping all has gone well but am aware I will have a fair bit of pain for a day or two (I certainly did last week) I used nurofen plus but really needed something stronger.
I have started on the denplan cover as I have gone privately  expensive but the level of care was 110% great :T and I didn't have to wait long for an appointment. It has eaten into the savings though. I am having first (and free - covered in denplan) hygenist apointment soon and I am not going to let things get this bad again!
Watched a prog last night where gum disease/infection had caused an infection around the heart  now wheres that mouthwash? Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

I've been taking paramol and ibuprofen. Every 4 hours for ever and ever
:rotfl:
Today is the first day I've gone the whole day without taking painkillers. I took some this morning but haven't needed anymore since then :T

I was advised to do this for my dd when I phoned NHS24, they will confirm the same thing.Never ever exceed the maximum dose, and I try and err on the cautious side with them anyway, so ended up using 2/3 maximum dose of each , it was to keep a fever down, and worked very well when staggered to maximise effectiveness, eg paracetamol at 3pm,Nurofen at 5:30, paracetamol at 8pm bedtimeMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I've suffered with severe toothache on and off for a couple of years despite regular trips to the dentist, he removed 3 teeth before finding the problem (says Tia Maria)
I THINK MOST BRITISH DENTISTS SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES
My dentist in hungary says british dentists are in general the worse he has seen
They wont treat nh cos they are richer going private...yet they dont suddenly get better most are still rubbish!0 -
That's a huge generalisation for one bad experience.
Dentists don't make more money going private (Inland Revenue figures back this up), as although the price goes up, the number of patients seen goes down in order to give each one more time, and not have huge waits between check ups an treatments.
There are good and bad dentists in all countries, and different countries have different ways of doing things sometimes. This is why, if you do go abroad for treatment, you can have trouble finding a dentist in this country to look after things later.
I am glad you are happy with your Hungarian dentist. I'm sure he is very good.
Personally, I wouldn't make such huge statements about a whole countries standards. It would make me look a bit too much like a dodgy car mechanic, sucking air through my teeth and saying "ooohhh Guv, you've 'ad a right cowboy in 'ere."How to find a dentist.
