Hello Turfy6, thank you for joining!

BBQ was lovely. The chap retiring had worked for the farm for 42 years! Practically the whole of his working life. That doesn't happen so much these days.

It was great to have time to sit around an chat to everyone at the yard, several of us are stuggling and trying to sell horses, but not many people are buying in this financial climate.

Popped up the allotment that I am co worker on and my sharer was there. Havn't seen her for ages. Have told her that now I have been given my own allotment I will have to give up hers in the Autumn as I am finding doing the 2 a struggle. Glad that is over as I had been putting off telling her, as I feel i'm letting her down.

Watered the greenhouse tomatoes which were wilting in this heat. Harvested some potatoes, the first runner beans and peas. Then did a spot of weeding..... will pop back later in the week to finish.

Have been listening to the Elton John concert through my window ...it's over a mile away but I could still hear it! Its finished now...time to walk the doggie and bed I think ..

Weee found your diary! Thought as you are supporting me posting in my diary that I would post and subscribe to yours!

I love the feeling I get when I make a payment on a debt or stick some money into my savings account. It's a buzz that motivates me to want to do it again. I like to round up what my bills tend to be, then any that come under what I've budgeted I put the difference towards paying off a debt. For example I budget £50 for my mobile phone bill, however it usualy tends to be aprrox £45, so the fiver saved I use to pay off a debt. Doesn't seem like much but it all adds up. Maybe you could try something similar to help motivate yourself? That way you won't miss the money as you had already 'spent' it, IYKWIM?

Hope you are having a lovely evening x

    Thank you Eyebright!

The more people the merrier! TBH when I look on paper there is plenty of money to start paying my debts I just have trouble letting go of it as I always find something to spend it on! (I have a very expensive hobby!) still am determined to change my habits this time. I'm sure once I see the debt disappearing and with everyons support on here, I will start to feel more motivated. :)

4 days to payday...am doing the budget before as usually end up doing it 4-5 days after payday , when I have already spent some of it! Am doing meal planner too based on the 80p a day menu but using what i have in the cupboard and am getting from the allotment.

Bye for now....time to get ready for work....

I've done meals plans for this week too, trying to use up all the random bits and bobs in the freezer and the cupboard! Will pin the menu to the fridge and then we can decide what we want each evening.
Just enjoying a nice cup of tea in bed before I get up to takle my SOA and the housework. Does it ever end?!:o

    Hi TC

Hope things are better with your daughter now - mine is 18 and can be very manipulative when she doesn't get her own way - I have been thinking for the last 10 years or so that surely she will grow out of it soon!

I can also sympathise re the kids contributing financially. Mine have both been at college the last couple of years but have both now finished so I've done the big bad mother talk and told them they need to start looking for work so they can pay their own way.

You're a year ahead of me in your allotment as I only started mine a few months ago - think I will dig up a few spuds this week and see how they're doing. It sounds like you have been quite successful. Do you have a full allotment or half a one?

Saw you had done your SOA EyeBright..well done your well on the road to being debt free now :)

Hi Skittle, yes teenagers can be a nightmare! And I have a 26 year old one!:rotfl:

I was lucky enough to have a friend who wanted to share her allotment last year and then got my own in October, but it was 4 miles away:(. Council have allowed me to swap with one I can walk to at the end of May :T. am very lucky as it was cultivated up to :TJan so was easy to get started. I have a half plot as full size plots are being broken up here as there is such huge demand!

I don't think I will do as well as last year as 2 plots was too much, so am going to give up my friends in the Autumn.

Doggie and I love being at the allotment as we have no garden. It is very peaceful and everyone is so friendly. Not to mention I eat alot more healthily with vegetables on tap and they taste better:D Wish I had done it years ago!:)

Good luck with yours Skittle, its well worth the hard work in the first year as it does seem to get easier once the ground has been cleared and dug once :)

  • HI TIZER,

Nice to see ou back, glad you are ok.

kids and horses what a combination! i have a 21 year old son at uni who point blank refuses to do a thing whilst at home for the summer...hes on holiday!!!!!!!!!!! whilst we work all hours to keep him and help pay his bills! dont know how to deal with him at the moment short of showing him the door.

we still have DD's horse. no one wants to loan let alone buy in this region- no one seems to have money for anything. dd not so bad she has a parttime job but it doesnt stretch to paying towards her horse or cleaning out the stable/feeding/grooming!!!!!!mum and dad yet again. i will just keep on advertising.

glad the allotments doing well. we have potatoes lettuces ,cucumber, radishes and raspberries ready this week so at least thats helping with the bills now.

glad to hear 'dog' is doing fine too- brilliant listeners and they dont answer back either

Hey TC, yes SOA all done now and targets have been made. Now to get cracking! In a bit of limbo at the mo' though whilst I wait for the new 0%cc to come through and for my registration fees to go out. Until this happens I can't really do an awful lot :o

Staying positive though, I'm sure it won't be too long!

How are things going with you? :)
