DT - how long will the oil last you? I know nothing about the cost of oil compared to gas.
  • DT - make an official complaint about the hotel and get a refund. It was not as described and no matter how small the charge it was too much.

I did complain when I left but I am afraid I just can't be bothered with the hassle at the moment to take it further I know I should :o

I am sorry to say that the last lot only lasted 2 months:eek:

We have a big old house with stone walls so no cavity insulation, our bedroom is in the attic so no decent amount of roof insulation. There is some double glazing but it is ancient so not very efficient and my mother feels the cold so we have to have the heating up high. We do have thermostats on the rads and I don't have all the rads on but it is far from efficient and the boiler is 13 years old so all in all it is expensive to run.

I am just glad that the vat on heating oil is only 5%. I am trying to reduce the electricity costs so hoping that some of that budget can go to the oil and we no longer have bottled gas as we have disconnected the gas fire and have swopped to an electric cooker but this is an expensive house to run and maintain that's why I sometimes dream of a contemporary efficient house:)

  • A very mixed kind of day today it started off OK and I was all geared up to do some church accounts as today was my first day with no children for ages but they were late picking the baby up for contact and by the time he left I was a weepy mess. Just couldn't stop thinking about our little girl who was adopted it was only much later in the day that I realised it is 3 months exactly since she left us whether I was subconciously aware of that I don't know.

Took Mom to the doctors and she treated me to lunch at my favourite restaurant which was lovely as was the weather but by the time we got home I was weepy again and have continued to be so on and off all afternoon.

Received a lovely present from a fellow MSEr :A which couldn't have been timed better and was very sweet.

Need to get a grip. I think I am still tired from my journey.

Have had a letter from BT saying they are sending me a cheque for £56.83 as I am moving my line to Virgin (sorry KC) as I already have my calls and broadband with them and Quidco are sending me £2.13 every bit helps:)

Budget wise everything is ship shape.

  • I think sometimes that events can overwhelm us- you do the right thing in acknowledging that DT :) Glad the day got better for you in the end. x

I think we all have days like that, when sometimes you just can't get on with the world. It's best to just acknowledge it, and not try to do too much.

    Take care

  • How lovely of your Mum to treat you especially when you were feeling like that.

You are allowed weepy days, we all need them occasionally.

  • Your mum must have that special intuition we seem to have with our children when we know they need some TLC, that was lovely that she took you for lunch. Sorry that you still feel weepy but you are only human and it would be unusual if you didn't 'feel it' sometimes.

    Take care x

Sorry to hear that you felt down but it's only to be expected as you looked after her for a long time. How lovely to have lunch out with your mum
  • On the hotel front - just send an email to customer services when you feel up to it.

I complained at a certain Lenny Henry hotel, all they did was ask me to sign a bit of paper and the refund was in my bank within a few days.
