EDIT - glad you met Pania, but it *was* cold today, wasn't it!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Nice that you met Pania and i am sure she appreciated you turning out and going blue- all in a good cause.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Well I have definitely being seeing dimly today
Came back from church went on laptop and after a few minutes a fog descended over the screen I no longer have a spare monitor cos I let DS sell them in return for emptying the loft so I was trying to read what was on the screen with the aid of a torch
After about 90 mins of fiddling and trying various stuff it is now working properly againnot sure what I did that made a difference though
Two good things came from it as soon as it was working properly I backed up my files and the screen was so hard to read that I also cleaned it so it is now very bright and clear I had got used to a dirty screen
The bad thing was that I realised that there isn't even an ancient back up desktop in the house if this goes kaput I am absolutely stuck
Quiet day otherwise and a NSD :T

I did that once then realized i needed to press fn and f9 to increase the brightness on the screen:o:rotfl:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

When it happened to me it unfortunately meant the screen was dying
So could be worth budgeting for it. The online live telephone support were quite funny, they repeatedly asked what the screen displayed, and each time we said the same thing, it was so dim you couldn't read anything!! How many times do you need to repeat a thing to get out of their standard scripts!!!
Fortunately it was in extended warranty
Pleased to hear your laptop is OK at the moment. Regular backups is always a good idea0 -

It wasnt that which was a shame but I did try it anyway and when it was fixed the screen was so bright it hurt my eyes I had to turn it down again
se999 I know I should have a budget for such things but at the moment that is not possiblemy Mom bought me this laptop and I have had it some time now and it has had a lot of use
and I am hoping if the worst happened she might buy me another one
Once I have caught up with my budget shortfall I am planning on putting all money from being under budget in my offset mortgage so that it will have the double job of offsetting my debt and forming my emergency fund if really really necessary but that is some way off so I am praying for no emergencies for the next few months
I have the lunch that formed part of my clothes' buying test with Souk "The Mothers' Union Lunch" tomorrow I am really looking forward to it ..................................................not I am the youngest member by approx 20 years  of course I now have to decide which of the many suitable clothes I have that I should wear :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
And it is a Christmas lunch which again is not my favourite we never have turkey for Christmas but at least it will be over for another year one of the joys of being a vicar's wife although I was conned he was a diver when I married him :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hi DT
.
We were watching a program last night about how they train the most elite divers in the US forces. They had them under the water in blacked out masks, pushing and shoving them, turning them upside down, removing the air supply to simulate bad weather and the worst they could face for half an hour, they take them to complete exhaustion and almost black out to show you can go further than you think. I'll stick to a paddling pool thank you very much .
Being a vicars wife must be less stressful and dangerous unless you have to choose between 2 parishioners cakes as to who bakes the best :rotfl:.One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!
