Am totally amazed at how much you've achieved today..well done.
how nice they sent a card and a letter after all you've done
  • Just got two grumpy children off to school.

About to go and have my hair done and then back to paperwork and hopefully a quick trip to look at carpets and a visit to B & Q to look at paint and blinds although we won't be buying until Friday to get the 15% off :money:

Foul weather here again today but the rain has stopped just for the moment.

    Have fun peeps

Have fun yourself - sounds as though your 50 day challenge is going great guns.

My own 50 day challenge is simply "to move house"......although of course that involves a million other scary sub-sections which I seem to have an amazing knack of glossing over :o

I really can't see that being a problem for you - you have an easy chain, you have conveyancing experience - it will be a doddle
    - famous last words :D

Now if you actually had to "move the house" that would be a different thing altogether but with the help of your MSE friends I am sure you would manage that too :rotfl::rotfl:

Frustrating morning saw a carpet I liked for my little girl's room just the right colour but it is sold and discontinued so will have to see if other branches nearby have it. As it was a cheap carpet the shop was not particular keen to be helpful :(

Hello lovely lady. Thank you *so* much for the book, it's so thoughtful of you :kisses3:

I will pass the other pressie on, it's lovely and so kind. Thank you again and I will make the amends as requested and forward it on.

Hope you have a good day today xx
  • You are more than welcome MacGirl you and your friend have saved me hours of work and stress :j

I went on a jewellery course yesterday which I really enjoyed but I have to accept that making jewellery is not going to make me rich and is always going to be just a sideline.

It also dawned on me yesterday that I am technically unemployed as I have no foster children at the moment although our social worker is coming tomorrow so realistically we really need to have made a decision by then as to whether we are going to continue or not. Even if we do decide to continue there is no way of knowing when our next placement will be as we can only take a child under 12 months. So a bit of a crossroads.

I had a great meeting with gilligansyle yesterday and I was discussing this wth her and had to admit although it sounds quite shallow that I would like to be rich :o there is so much I could do if I didn't have to worry about money - not sure how that is going to happen though - we agreed that you are not going to get rich by working for someone else, so unless I have some long distant rich relative that I don't know about :D I am going to have to come up with a business idea - but therein lies the problem I can execute ideas but I don't have a creative personality :(

Today I have decided that I will find a local craft fair so that at least I can kickstart the jewellery side but in the meantime if anyone has an abfab business idea going spare please pm me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Just a random point I need to order a couple of roman blinds and a cushion for the top of a storage box if there is anyone reading who does this I would be happy to send the business your way rather than a stranger. My sewing ability is basic to say the least just enough to make costumes for school :)

DT - Could you look back at some of Mr Big's challenges to remind yourself what you are passionate about (and also things that you find easy that other people appreciate)? Is there a niche ... like using your experience of fostering to train other foster carers? could you do respite or short term older children? Apart from being 'rich', how much time do you want to spend doing it, do you want steady income to tick along ... etc (sorry if you have already talked about this as I am a lurker who flits in and out of threads)

The craft fair is a great idea, it will kick start other ideas I am sure.

Thanks NorthernLas I do need to revisit mr. Big's challenges to see if any new ideas pop up also need to do the exercise on Firewalker's thread.

Foster carers round here are trained inhouse so although I might be asked for my input actually a friend of mine does this it would be on an expenses only basis and happens 2/3 times a year.

I do respite foster once a month but as I am a foster carer with the local authority I tend to spend more on the child than I get in fees but in fact I wouldn't be comfortable making a profit from fostering. I could join a private fostering company which pays a lot more but I would not get the category of children I care for now and I would have to consider the potential negative impact on my own family which is too great a price to pay.

I have sent an email to enquire about a craft fair stall so I have started.

With regard to the time factor I would be prepared to work full time on the right business especially as I have a very accommodating and flexible OH with regard to childcare etc.
