  • Well I am well and truly back

Been quite a stressful few days one way and another. Came down with a really horrible cold that really laid me low very unusual for me. Drove down to Cardiff on Monday afternoon and once I had finished my evening meal felt really rough again so in bed and asleep by 9pm which is unheard of woke at 5am with really horrible phlegm.

I stayed in a top secret hotel thankfully after my horrible stay in the travelodge last month I was fairly confident from the clues given that the top secret hotel was actually my favourite hotel when staying in cardiff and it turned out correct and an extra 15% saved :money: it was so nice to be back - clean room and friendly staff :)

Finally bought some new cushions after literally years of looking - they don't pass my rigorous touch test but as my others were 23 years old and we are having a course in our house on Friday I was too embarassed to leave them any longer :o so bought some vaguely the right colour and I will hide one of the old ones in a cupboard for when I need a cushion to stroke :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

OS's hospital appointment went as expected there is no sign of improvement in the nerve so he is being sent for tests to find out for sure and if not two choices nerve graft with potential 18 month wait for complete recovery or form a new tendon in the foot but learn how to operate foot in a different way I think he is favouring the latter at the moment as 18 months is a long time for an 20 year old and he misses driving - we will see :(

Drive home was OK but very tired due to waking early.

Mad day today took a last minute booking for our villa in Lanzarote starting tomorrow but then couldn't get in touch with management co. to tell them been on edge all day as a result finally spoke to them at 7pm problem with their phone so that is sorted.

Also had a morning AGM followed closely by a networking lunch but now not sure I want to follow up the connection as the vibes don't feel right but can't really afford to be choosy - still not had official notification from SRA - but have had email from census saying sorry still dealing with application had 300,000 applications blah de blah was supposed to start today  not sure why as census day isn't until 27th.

Have paperwork to do tomorrow but should then be all up to date which will be good and the house is tidy, garden is progressing pergola done, fence now safe but needs painting, still some pruning to do. Need to go to library tomorow to return the kids' books and some books I've found that my OD took out in 2009:eek: I think there is an amnesty on at the moment - I certainly hope so.

Really tired now so planning an early night but doesn't always happen.

6 weeks until payday cash flow is getting really tight and will go negative soon because of the shortfall going to relook at budgets on payday and see if I can reorganise the budgets to absorb the shortfall so that I can't start afresh but that will depend on how big the shortfall is in 6 weeks time so need to keep things as tight as possible in the meantime.

Things sound a bit manic, hope you get everything sorted.

Re DS foot, once he's had the tests, will they steer him towards a particular option, do you think, or will it be for them to make the decision? As you say, its a long time at 20.

It will be his choice they have offered to refer him to the plastic surgeons who would do the nerve graft anyway so that they can talk it through with him and then he can make the decision as to which procedure to have.

It sounds a nightmare for your son. I know you've probably thought of these but have they said which is likely to have the best outlook long term? Also if one didn't work would he still be able to try the other? Hope it's Ok asking, it's just they'd be the questions I'd be asking the answers for if it was one of mine.

Hope whatever he choses works well and also that it's not disrupting his uni work too much at the moment.

Of course its OK to ask there are no guarantees with the nerve graft but if it did work it would probably be the best option that is why we were offered a referral to the plastic surgeons to get a full likely prognosis presumably if it didn't work the tendon would still be an option but of course that would add even more to the time factor the tendon is always going to be the compromise option but as he is no athlete (just like his mom:o) probably would be OK for him. We do need to discuss the long term outlook with both procedures but we will have another opportunity for discussion once the results of the tests are done.

He is managing well with his Uni work at the moment although yesterday's strike was a pain as a lab was cancelled which may now take place next Friday and upset his travel home plans  but he has to go as it is 25% of this module's marks.

Hoping to get out in the garden this afternoon once the little one is having his nap and do a bit more my sisters are coming tomorrow and staying over night so that will be nice.
