Bonus interest is there this morning.

I guess we should expect this every month now. It would have been better for NatWest to have let us know upfront rather than having to field off so many enquiries.

Natwest has recently started using unpaid interns to go through all the e-savings accounts and work out what interest is owed on each one exch month.

    Bonus in my account also.

And my unpaid intern has got the calculation about right also
Sadly the intern has now been told to leave for daring to suggest to the incompetent managers at Nat West that using a computer to do the calculation and paying bonus interest at the same time as the main interest would be in everyone's interests.

I do seem to recall the information about the bonus interest being paid separately and on the first working day of each month was present in the original offer all along, it's just that we did not give much attention to it at the time. (In other words Natwest hasn't really 'slipped up' unless you include staff who were merely fielding questions in the early days, possibly) They had previously paid bonus interest separately too - but had done that on the 'last' working day of each month in line with the days on which standard interest was always payable.

Nope - well not as detailed on leaflet "NW90238115" Page 1 of which can still be seen here

    Quote:
The bonus interest will be paid as a separate credit on the last working day of each month. If your account is closed before
the end of the bonus interest period, any bonus interest accrued in the month of closure will not be paid..

    ..bla bla...

Example of bonus interest payment dates
If your account was opened on 24 October 2012, the bonus would work as follows

Bonus period starts 24 October 2012
Bonus period ends 24 October 2013
First bonus interest payment 31 October 2012
Final bonus interest payment 31 October 2013

From their file e-Savings-bonus.pdf that I downloaded on 19/10/12 it says:

"The bonus interest will be paid as a separate credit on the last working day of each month. If your account is closed before the end of the bonus interest period, any bonus interest accrued in the month of closure will not be paid."

On that basis the bonus should have been paid on Friday the 30th I think. I don't know whether the file is still available from the NW site.

Edit: Whoops, as Mr FF has already pointed out.
