As a few people haev asked me for instructions on how to make little stars I actually found a US site with the instructions on :)

    http://www.highhopes.com/3dstar.html

Practice either with larger ribbon (NOT ribbon with wire or made of fabric - even I struggle with these and only make them on very very rare occasions. The ribbon you need is standard christmas ribbon - the kind you can curl the ends of) or purpose cut paper strips. If I find a source for the paper I'll post it here.

If I have a chance I'll take pitures of the "mini" decorations I have at home and post tonight :)

 They look a bit complicated to me but then I'm not that good at origami type things...but I'll have a go at a later date when I've not got paperwork coming out of my ears and having to go out in 30 minutes :rotfl:

Anyone else got any papercraft Christmas Decorations? If they can be made out of wrapping paper even better... my bargin rolls are starting to take over my bedroom

I remember making the concertina garlands at school - they were fairly simple actually, and would work with wrapping paper.

Choose your shape (flower-type is the easiest, or you can use a longer shape), cut several hundred, lol, and start glueing.

I'll see if I can do a template thingy on paintbox, and edit it in (never posted a picture here, so that should be interesting, lol)

    :)

    Edit -

    decstemplate.jpg

Excuse drawing - not used Paint for a long time - but you get the idea. Piece 1 gets glued to piece 2 with a dab of glue at 'A' points, then piece 3 is attached to piece 2 with glue at 'B' points, then piece 4 to 3 at 'A' points, and so on - simple but effective. Use card for the first and last pieces for strength if you wish.

You can use whichever shape you wish, so long as you stick to the alternate glueing routine.

    :)

But it was fun wasn't it :D

If you really want to go OS - what about pine cones? Decorate them (glitter or gold/silver paint) and string them either in garlands, or individually for on the tree. You can also use them for centrepieces/candles holders.

Any ideas for decorations involving conkers? DD has 46 at the last count and I can get more without a problem ;) I know I can thread them onto string and hang them individually (perhaps spray painting/glittering) but I'm looking for other ideas too.

I have had a couple of ideas for making decorations with my son.

On Cbeebies they took 2 triangles or card and a piece of string and stuck the string between the 2 triangles on top of each other to form a star, then covered both sides in glue and dipped them in silver glitter. I thought they would make nice family decs for the Christmas tree.

I think we're going to make a Santa out of a toilet roll holder, some crepe paper and some cotton wool too.

Okay, hardly like the beautiful, artistic examples above, but i just thought I'd share. :o:D

How about threading them onto wire wrapped into a loop to make a wreath for the front door?
A nice red ribbon/fabric bow at the top and a sprig or two of holly.
...it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.
