  • Sim Sweetheart I have read your posts but not known what to say.....I guess they took me back to when I was where you are & I could`nt reply as it was still very sensitive to me.

I just wanted to say I`m supporting you in your `recovery` from your blip last week....its so hard & god knows I have sat & cried until I am numb when it happened to me.

AllI can say is `one day at a time` ...you know already that but please don`t dwell on last week....that is gone now so try & imagine a new line in the sand & look at whats ahead rather than what is now in the past.

    Be strong.....

    Angiexx

    Thanks so much Angie.

Am really trying to look forwards now.

Forgive me for asking, but have you completely stopped the booze now or cut down?

Either way, how did you do it?

    Thanks again,

    Sim xx

Too much drinking, and too much thinking has got me nowhere!

Time for a change of course I think.

Need to talk to my CBT chap.

Glad you're getting back on track sim. Well done on prioritising your bills. Of course, you're very welcome and valued on here but as HB said you need more. Do see your CBT chap and chase up the rehab. You were in such a good place when you won your appeal, you will be again. For what it's worth I know you were worried sick about that but it seemed preparing your appeal gave you somethng to focus on. You need a plan...(cunning or otherwise;)). Glad you're eating OK now try and get out for a bit of fresh air and exercise. Try a walk tomorrow.

    Another night done so

7AF for October please Shaggy and

    2 for the challenge Pen.

I'm struggling a bit tonight. I've been out to a charity dinner and know I would have enjoyed it more with a drink. But as I'm going away on Thursday I wanted to clock up a few more AF days. I'll feel better about it in the morning.

Hope everyone has had a good evening whether AF or otherwise. Hope you aren't rushed to hospital during the night HB:D

    Hiya,

Yes I stopped completely. Thats how it is for me I can`t just have the `one drink`. Last year I was very bad & yo-yo`d from very good highs to the deepest lows.....I had LFT`s that were raised & I knew that I was starting to use the drink as a `self harming` tool...if that makes sense....like nothing mattered anymore.

I just decided on 28 th Aug that I could`nt take anymore....I poured the remaining bottles down the drain & switched to my Roses Lime cordial & sparkling water.....its daft but I mix that like a G&T & can make it strong or weak....plus Roses Lime has a very sharp taste so is less like a squash/pop drink than ordinary lime juice. When I go out I drink Red Bull & ice so still get that bit of a `high`.

TBH I just retrained my taste buds as it was the `habit` I needed to break as much as anything....funny but I drank that much that 2 bottles of wine would have very little `drunk` effects but still didn`t know `why` at the time, but I can see now that it was pure addiction.

I still have my weak days but now I am just not prepared to feel like I have wasted the last 14 months for the sake of a drink. I have my life back now & I`m not letting go of it again,

....hmmmm well you did ask ...

Anyway...even after all this time its still a day at a time. I have been a yo-yo drinker stop/starter for 20 years so there is no room for complacency this time.

    Thanks Graeme.

What I emphasised in bold - I'm trying so damn hard to focus on that, without obsessing if you get me.

I even feel too embarrassed to go back to AA, but would like to.

    Hope you're well.

    Sim.

Don't let embarrassment cost you your life.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

So that's my goal. To rediscover me.

I love what you said there Clara, well done for coming back and good luck achieving your goal. xx
Have ordered that book off Amazon, 'No Big Deal' - Think it was Jo who recommended it

Hi Sim, it was 365 that recommended it, I just seconded it :D hope it helps you, I might have to order it myself, the one I read was a friends and I had to give it back.

    Morning all :)

Pen and Shaggy, would you both take me off your lists please, I'm fed up with never achieving what I set out to.

Feeling okay though, got some stuff happening over here at chez jo1972 and it's difficult and before anyone says it, yes drinking makes it worse.

So I'll just be sitting over here in the corner quietly for a bit.

    :) xx

On Sunday afternoon my DDs and I watched some of our family videos from when they were babes. It's normally a bittersweet thing to watch them as my OH died nearly 8 years ago and it's hard but lovely to see us as a family. This time though the thing I found hardest was seeing myself 10 years ago. I was smiling, laughing, bright-eyed, full of energy running round with the girls. I feel so far from that person and need to find her again.

Oh clarabell that made me soooooo sad.:(

I hope you get your mojo back.

    Stick with us.
