  • PS -

This was between last Wednesday lunchtime and Friday (about 10.30pm).

I also spent about £30 on a meal for my ex - Girlfriend and I on Friday night, so I'm still £295 down over just three days.
  • Jesus. About £98 per day on drink, over three days.

This all started after my 'back to work interview' last Wed. It wasn't her fault though.

    Sorry.

I'm just trying to get these figures down.

Was sick in a few pubs, but then carried on.

Had that weird spasm thing going on in bed when I'd got home Friday night.

Now need to prioritise bills tomorrow, and sort my bombsite of a flat out.

    Night night all.

Big Hugs to anyone else who's going through it.

    Sim xx

    Thanks all.

    Thanks Graeme.

I'm at a point where it feels the toughest yet, to pull myself out of this.

Almost as if I don't even feel 'worthy' of being better.

    Silly I know.

I was drinking to stop thinking / to switch off / to relax / to stop feeling self - conscious / to stop feeling lonely / to 'hide' in a pub / to have the balls to talk to Women etc. Drinking to irrationally seek solace in oblivion.

I can not handle the fallout again though.

Having just done some quick sums, I worked out that on Wednesday I had £1,050.

I spent £65 on a second hand iPod Nano, £35 on headphones (another way to avoid interaction with people..), £15.00 on a mains adaptor for it.

(Drunk shopping is another bonkers pastime of mine, when I've been on the sauce).

£10 on Russell Brands new one (oh the irony)..probably a total of £70 in train tickets to two cities nearby, a total of £120 in hotel stays for two nights.

    That leaves £735.

I have about £40 in my flat, and a further £370 left in my account = £410.

    So obviously, that's £735 - 410 = £325 on booze.

    F'in unbelievable.

Can't sleep. Will I ever learn that a coffee at 10.30 is never a good idea.

Highlighted bit above. My thoughts.-It's rambling so be warned!!

I don't know if you've read 'No big deal' it's been mentioned here a few times now...by somebody Coates I believe.

I have never been to AA and do not follow a religion but this book sums up all the 'higher being' stuff so well. You do have to hand over your 'wellness' to a higher being. Someone who see's you as the most wonderful person in the world and who wants to see the best for you with no hidden agenda. Many people call that person God. I don't know what I call it, but not God.

So you may not believe that you aren't worthy...what was that film 'We're not worthy!!' But you can bet your bottom dollar that any feeling, human being does not want you to suffer, doesn't want anyone to suffer. Imagine the Chilean Miners. I don't know them but I want them to get out and be free. If someone said to me '!!!! em' they wouldn't be a freind of mine for long. You have to admit that there are some amazing things in this world. How trees grow from tiny seeds, how birds migrate all that kind of WOW stuff. You are a human being, one of the WOW things in this world. Do you think anyone would want you to be suffering the way you are? Even total strangers?

Ok so trying to make my point-When the AA says turn yourself over to the higher power I think it means (really hard to explain this) you have to live the way that is best for you. The way that someone who knows everything would direct you. Each and everyone of us are WOW's. It's not arrogant and big headed to be WOW. It's how we were meant to be and you along with everyone else has the right to be so.

So the question really is WOW or a !!!!head.

Those women who you feel more comfortable chatting up when you are drunk. What do you think they would prefer a WOW or a !!!!head. If they prefer a !!!!head then don't YOU deserve better?

Why do you want to stop thinking? Isn't that what makes us become more WOW.

When you become your own version of wow you won't need to drink to sink into oblivion because you won't have anything to run from anymore.

Sorry I warned you it was a ramble.

    Hiya,

Thank You so much for your inspired words (an understatement, but words fail me tonight. Head a shed and all that).

    You've moved me to tears!

Having just taken delivery from a very angry looking takeaway delivery driver (Lord knows why), it dawned me just how much my over - sensitivity has led me to drink so much over the years :o

    Thanks again 365 xx

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Any tips on how to control that one alcohol allowed night are welcome.

Sue - I seem to spend my life on a permanent diet, so that is my motivation to limit my alcohol intake! That is my only tip I'm afraid:)

I must be the most boring person ever (pleeeese don't all agree!:D) I don't do Xfactor or SCD or Apprentice but will be joining OH (currently watching Antiques Roadshow:o) in a moment to watch Downton Abbey.

    Hi Maman,

I'm really boring too! Have loved Downton Abbey although didn't think last night was quite as great as previous episodes.

I enjoyed the apprentice and agree totally with Budgie!

I managed to be AF yesterday so that's 4 for me please Shaggy. Drove and having got to after 8pm it didn't seem worth having a glass and 'wasting' a day that had gone so well. Plus I could feel how tired I was because I wasn't drunk!

Shaggy, your post was really inspiring and you are a great example of the just do it thing, not talking about it just cracking on and getting the results you want. I am very impressed!! :T:T:T

Sim, so sorry to hear about your last few days. Hugs mate, don't know what else to day.

Alchera, I must admit I thought you were a troll, (My bf (best friend) at schoool had tons of the other kind, I remember them very well!) and now I'm sure that you're an interesting one if you are a troll so thanks!!

I plan to be AF Tonight. Have a good day everyone.

Thinking maybe I could look it as less of a detox more of a cheekbone & waistline finding expedition? :rotfl: (nothing changes, always joke when unhappy!)

I find that wine gives me serious munchies! Just one glass has me reaching for junk food!

Edit - well done on the debt reduction!

    Morning all,

Sim, take 365's advice and get this book The Author, John Coats is a counsellor, addiction key worker that actually used to have a drink problem (so refreshing, better than having a key worker that doesn't understand the illness). He used to be my friends keyworker in rehab and she had his book which she lent to me, it had such an impact at the time that I emailed him via the publishers and I actually got a reply from John Coats himself!! Fantastic book, it does go through the AA steps but you don't need to go to AA to understand it, as it's basically his journey from the beginning and how he got through each step (I actually welled up on the train at one point!). Good luck Sim xx

Could I join the 4 day challenge please. I have got completely wasted for 3 days now, I have the shakes today, look like sh!te and feel pretty crap, didn't sleep at all last night. This has to stop and it stops here. I've already told the guy at work that is the recovering alcoholic that I need to talk to him today so I know I have support there :)

Budge, excellent news about DS :D

Really gotta dash, start work in 20 minutes
