Good morning everyone
Some good posts on here in last couple of days!
Becks7 - well done on the 7AF days:T I know alcohol has played a huge part in my weight gain over the years. When I'm not drinking I actually eat pretty healthily. Good luck with the menu planning for this week. This is second time round on SW for me. First time my mindset wasn't right. This time I'm "in the zone" and loving it!:D
Sparkles - well done on the 17AF days!:TConsidering how good we feel when we don't drink, makes you wonder why we do it in the first place!
Darwinsmum - good luck today - hope all goes well!
Dundeedoll - I think anyone who has had experience of over-drinking (whether its themselves or people they know) has valuable advice to offer here. So please stick around!:T
Stayed AF last night so no hangover here today!:T Allowed Piglet to stay up to watch some of comic relief. Not keen on a lot of it (Graham Norton and Davina McCall make me want to commit murders.....) but loved the Masterchef bit. Michel Rouz getting hit in the head with some crab shell was highlight of the show!:D
Anyhoooooo....will be AF here again today. Want to get some knitting done tonight and intend using my SW syns on Cadburys chocolate eclairs while I'm sat there knitting away!:rotfl:
Have good saturdays all!

Thank you all for your kind posts. I was nervous yesterday evening, but my sons new partner was a sweetie. Fell off the wagon and had just enough to keep me under the limit so that I can drive today. Thankfully no hangover and don't feel bad for having drunk in company. It is solitary drinking that I have come to despise.
Certainly am nervous about today, I am sure it will be fine and I will wonder why I didnt do it sooner.
Will keep you all posted, have a great day everyone and thanks for your support!

Hi just wanted to pop in and say 'hello' :hello:
I have not posted for ages and ages but have lurked!
Things have got progressivly (sp?) better here, strangely enough due to money! I have been more or
less Af for 3 months.
At Christmas I decieded not to use credit/debit cards at all anymore! And one of the up shots is that I am really thinking about what my cash goes on and it has highlighted exactly how much of my debt is due to alcohol! At the moment it is helping keep me in check, but I also think the time was right for me to cut right down too. Hope you didn't mind me sharing.
Have a great weekend and enjoy this lovely sunshine,
Mari x0 -
Thank you for sharing Mari, who else knows how much of their debt is due to alcohol? I shudder to think! Doing a bit of early morning mental arithmetic has suggested that if I hadnt spent the last how ever many years drinking far too much, I would virtually be debt free! What a sobering thought.

Hi Darwins _mum...scary isn't it,
my feeling now is that both my health and my finances should improve if I keep this up, so far so good (just wish it had hit me sooner!).
Just had a look back at the last few pages here, good luck for today, I hope it all goes well for you.0 -

enjoy the sunshine
I worked out that, if I add up the average price of a bottle of wine, and worked out how much I drank over the last 3 years (2 at least a week, x52, x3) = around £2000. And that is a conservative estimate.
Holy hell.
On the bright side, I was AF last night, so my total now is 12/15.HSBC Credit Card £608.69, HSBC Overdraft: £4123.67, HSBC Loan: £8,270.69
Lloyds Credit Card: £1418.62, Very Account: £518.99, Barclaycard: £126
Total Debt as of 9th June 2020: £15066.660 -
Afternoon all
Quite proud of myself this afternoon. Stepson arrived flashing around a brand new IPOD touch his mum had bought him (OH's CSA payments doubled this month so guess where she got that money from!). I felt very angry as we are pretty brassic (we just ummed and ahhed about buying a new coat for Piglet even though he really needs one) , and went for a walk to burn off steam. Walked to the shop and came back WITHOUT wine!!:T
This time, I didn't even stand staring at it! Thought to myself, why should I let anyone else spoil all my hard work with dieting and trying to be AF???
So, very pleased with myself and just wanted to share!:D:rotfl:

Hi guys
At last found the right website to discuss what I think is my drinking problem. And can't believe the entries I've read - I am not alone!
I'm of an age where I prefer to stay in most nights. Done with partying & standing in pubs, been there, done that, got the tee-shirt etc. Now I'd rather drink at home, and am luckily comfortable enough off to buy what I like without it hurting my bank account, and I don't seem to put that much weight on. But I I live alone so no one knows how often & how much I drink. Up to a year ago I used to think that drinking half a bottle of wine a night was a bit of a problem .....but now it's probably double that, maybe even more some week! I'm sure I must be harming myself. Terrible memory.... headaches....etc. just generally feeling tired. I'm never off my work and it's not that I can't function (although I do feel pretty ropey for the first hour of the day)
I just don't know how to break the habit. I always feel I deserve my first drink of the day around 6.30pm - before eating. It's usually a large g & t, then with dinner a large glass of wine then it continues ..........more over the rest of the night watching TV.
Sometimes I even go to bed tipsy,it's madness!!! I don't have hobbies or there's nothing I'm burning to get out and do so I think boredom must be a part of it. As mentioned I don't sleep particularly well either, probably as a result of the booze, so I wake with aches and pains, give myself a hard time but by 6pm I'm feeling fine so it starts all over again.
It's a vicious cycle. I don't want to give up drinking, I just want to enjoy it like but I can't seem to break this daily habit. Can anyone give me advice please.0
