I survived the shopping trip. Only naughty things I came back with are lemon cake and some chocolate. Phew! Had to go to Mr S as I find Mr T too exhausting. Perhaps I should start thinking on ordering all my groceries online.

Anyhoo - it means no 7 please Shaggy and 2 please Pen. :)

Glad to here your mum is feeling brighter and up to going out for lunch.

Foot is still achey but I am resting it. Should be dancing tonight but that's out for a week or two:( Strange I hear no bells at all on a weeknight any more, thought I might with not normally being at home on Mondays.

Hi all - thanks for your welcome.
I cracked - feeling pretty awful and light headed, in the end I had a bottle of Stella from the fridge, - I've had a case of them there since Christmas. I don't usually drink lager but it was better than trotting up the road for the inevitable bottle of red and it certainly took the edge off my craving.
Usually by this time on a Sunday I've finished my first bottle of wine around 4pm, crashed out for a few hours and am well down my second bottle so while not feeling uber:A I am certainly feeling virtuous, my no wine weekend has also saved me around £15.

The worst is yet to come though as my main habit is after work just picking up a bottle on the way home as I feel like I've earned it after a day ar work.
I don't feel particularly ready for a challenge yet, I'll see how I get on over the remainder of February and jump in at the start of March.
Feel like I have let myself down as I was hoping for a few weeks completely off the stuff but I'll not beat myself up about it and just work to getting my units down, I've been averaging 80-90 units a week over the last year or two, he only way is down (or up) really.
    Thanks for your warm welcomes

Go *jobags* - very honest post. I know what you mean about coming home from work. If I can get home and shower, then its AF, no problem (even with drinks in the house). For me its the habit of stopping at the pub for a drink (one beer!) - but then its opens the flood gates when I get home, and before bed its a lot more.

    Good luck!
Smoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general :p
  • I'm about to go back to page 199 to catch up. But just in case I run out of time....

    4 for me please Shaggy

I had a few Fri/Sat and Sunday. But not OTT and didn't have sore heads. I would usually share wine with DH at the weekend when he is home anyway. So I don't feel mad that I did it.

But Monday is here and I'm AF tonight. Had to busy myself like a crazy woman when I came in from work though! There is about a glass left of wine in the fridge. But I would really, really regret having that. I need to be AF at LEAST 3 days this week.

I think I'm going to have to have some chocolate though :o
    Need to start again :o

Reporting AFD number 2/16, finally! :j

Will not be AF tomorrow, but will definitely be for Wednesday and Thursday, and hopefully Friday too!

  • Phew, just caught up.

Welcome Jobags and Thrifty Fifty. There aren't many stories we hear in here that doesn't ring true for most of us. Jobags ((hugs)) to you. I've been a bottle of wine a night girl for years. My youngest son was born in 2007, so since then. Over 3 years with maybe only a couple of days here and there without wine :o

But this thread really does help. I'm 4 AF days for February and feeling positive. Weightloss is becoming a great motivator for me too. The pressure of being a mum waiting for my eldest son from school and seeing all these "yummy mummies" in their gym gear. Pert bottoms and not all hanging out :rotfl:The lack of empty wine calories has got to help me lose some layers of fat.

Off to make my hot milk. Have resisted biscuits so far tonight. Reading up on here has taken up all my time.

I'm a bit lost as to what has happened to some of our friends. Jo? Budgie? Fay? Are they all okay?
    Need to start again :o

But then if they oppose you not drinking are they really friends?

Clumsy, sloppy choice of words there in my previous post. In the case of both friends I suppose what I really mean is that we have been friends for so long and nowadays the only thing we have in common is our shared love of red wine - take that away and there probably isn't much left!

That came to me in a flash, I'm going to hang onto that thought, fiddle around with it in my brain and come back to it later.

About me and today - a very long day as I had work, came home at 6 and then had to go out at 7 for my parenting class (I'm a pretty cr*ppy mum so I have to go to mum school to learn how to be better)

    Bedtime soon, I'm Kn@ckered

This is very common. When I was in hospital and had to stop drinking I found out who my real friends were.
